Its winter time where im at and i need some help finding out why my 22re 91 toy has rough starts in the winter time like what exactly am i suppose to be looking for and if anything needs to be cleaned and if so what the parts called incase it comes down to replacing it. Thanks any help would be great
Define rough start... like slow cranking? Lots of cranking before kicking over? Sputtering? Etc. Could be any number of issues related to gas, spark, or heat.
Its more along the lines of long cranking before it starts over, like it takes a while before it catches if that makes sense
I had the same problem this morning....just got the truck from Georgia over the weekend, and this morning (12 degrees) it took me almost ten minutes to get the truck to fire up....long cranking at about 5 second intervals.
Brotha try checking the cold start injector and try cleaning it that helped with my trucks issue, it starts a lot smoother I might have to clean it off somemore or like eventually change it out cause it looks like its getting jacked up but yea try that first it might do you wonders
I don't think a 22r has a cold start injector...when of my coworkers have a celica with a 22r and said he had the same problem and it was his auxiliary acceleration pump.
ahh I see sorry I'm still new to this haha but I know the 22re which is what I have has a cold start injector and that was one of the issues on my truck my friend cleaned it out and its starting a lot better than what I had before where it would take a long minute for it to actually start like it would crank but it wouldn't catch
First step is to confirm that the cold-start sensor is closing, then check for proper flow at the injector itself.
