heres the latest pic with the early 4Runner front...

the bubble in the corner lense is a non-U.S. model specific hilux marker. ive never seen those without the bump in the side and still have a double bulb socket. as it is, the socket up front will light up as the regular marker. the socket towards the rear of the corner will become a signal indicator and flash whenever the flashers turn on.

unfortunately, the first truck was stolen not 2 weeks after he had bought it........ on the 2nd day after he had moved into his new appartment, the truck was gone by morning.

it was a personal loss for me as well since i had sold him the truck........ it had 146 original miles on it, ran like a clock! i had purchased it from someone off craigslist sicne the truck had been hit with a fedex semi truck trailer...... i hed replaced the whole front clip (core, fenders, radiator, grill bumper) and paint matched everything! truck was straightened out to where you could never tell it was hit. he finished it off and polished it brought it back even better....... had just started to mod it with some half clear rears then he had to move from the place he was at into the new app. then someone had to come along and hate.........

Thanks to my grandfather for giving me The Club for Christmas! I put it on mine as tightly as I can get it and have a detachable radio face (cracked, so I am thinking of a new head unit later) Sucks about the first Lil Red, I'm sorry. Things gonna look even hotter when you guys are completed with her.

I am wondering though, the bumper you pulled off of Lil Red MKII, would one of those fit on an '88? I really want to get rid of my tow hitch because I will NEVER use it, and it hangs way too far down for the mixed terrain driving I occasionally do. Just getting some ideas...

Oh, and to prevent MKII from getting stolen, you guys should think of installing a removable steering wheel and take it with you when you leave her alone. Just a thought.

yea, its been a real fast turn around transformation on this truck. allot of mechanical issues were tackled too like the clutch, steering, general tuninng, smog, brakes, exhaust, and a few other odd ends that have also taken some time.

its amazing how far the lil truck has come.

to give you guys a little history, the kid who owned it before Mac had it parked at his appartment complex ((wich we assume where most if not all the dents and dings came from)) and just sat for months on end. it sat for so long that the steering stuck in certain places and was harder to turn left than right. the clutch was close to being scattered since it slipped under any load. the valve cover had leaked oil all over the motor so it litterally caked everything..... heavily! it had a beyond salvagable rotted out exhaust system fromt he manifold back to the exit. bolts and parts galore were/are still rust crunchy and we're slowly working on addressing them.....

When you put on the 4runner bumper. Was it just a 4runner bumper bracket switch or did it have to be custom. looking to do this next. thanks

I don't believe so... unlike automatics, you have to push in the clutch or in my truck's case, you can push the CLUTCH START CANCEL switch to turn it on. However, if you were to bypass both, than maybe, just maybe it would work.

But are the frames from this truck essentially the same in the rear as on the 1988, because I know by looking at my friend's truck, that the front is slightly different, which is why conversion brackets were made for the last gen. American Hilux bumpers to fit on 84-88 trucks.

not exactly the same on the frames.... i know some of the later trucks used a different shacle and other minor differences.... fronts are nearly identical except for the bumper mounts.... the later ones use a side mounted bumper bracket as to where the earlier ones use a front mounted bracket.

the bracket does go in the front but is held on the frame by the 2 bolts parallel to the frame.
