Got the engine back a couple of days ago. 22r and 4 speed are gone. Same tech who worked on the 1uz took it so he can rebuild it. It's in good hands. That gap.
Bought a couple of more parts over the week. I have also been busy removing and deleting more emissions crap. I have been cleaning misc. parts of the engine and painted the valve covers to match the intake.
Just do both! I want to bag my truck after I'm done with this part of the build. Dont want to bag then the 1uz not fit. Id rather build the truck around the 1uz. But then it won't be my daily...
Organized the spark plug wires today since they were all over the place. passenger side was simple. Not as crowded. The driver side that was making me scratch my head. Tried different ways to rearrange them and it wasn't working. After 20 minutes I think I got it. This is where I was having problems. I also found this while cleaning the timing belt covers. I wonder what the PO was trying to glue together...
While putting on the timing covers I could not find the water pump pulley bracket... might have thrown it away. And because V8
Mock up of intake. Fuel rail not on the engine yet. Fuel injectors will get cleaned they will also get new grommets, o-rings, and bushing.
Truck interior is going to go back in this week. Going to take vacation time from work to get back on the truck... hopefullly. This was taken 2 days ago.
Glad to see you made it through last weeks "storm of the century". You gotta clean up all that wiring. Once you do it'll look awesome. .
That storm had the area around my workshop flooded for a couple of days. The wiring is going to be a pain in the ass since I already forgot why I cut some wires. I hit the junkyard and 2 hours later. I grabbed the upper and lower oil pan, Oil baffle, pickup tube, oil sensor, dip stick w/ tube, oil filter mount, and both exhaust manifold w/ oxygen sensors and heatshields
Checking fitment on exhaust manifold. Of course the drivers side did not fit properly because mine has air injection. Will have to grind it down a bit.
More pictures of slow progress. exhaust manifold grinded down to fit around the air injection. Upper oil pan installed.
Rear sump on. Just missing a stud or long bolt to go through both pans to the block. Oem oil filter. These are now 90915-YZZD1. Toyota block off plate from a 1990 van. Exhaust manifold block off plate slightly cut to delete the 1uz pipe that sits behind the engine which bolts from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold.
