To add to that, an e-fan could have a switch to override the thermostat switch and relay to be able to turn it off when you are cruising down the highway..

Honestly I see where everyone is coming from with their statements. Personally I think it comes down to just do what you think is best. There is an argument for all possibilities.

Personally I'd just go straight to the e-fan setup. It may take more time and money, but do it once and don't worry about having to later.

And by the way, I definitely am jealous of that motor! And that hybrid sticker is sweeeet!

Got my windshield and rear window seals a few weeks ago. With the help of a few toyota enthusiast we got both windows installed.

Deleted the sliding window for a full glass
    [IMG]

Fabricated a compressor mount in order to use a 22r compressor bracket with tensionner and retain the old nipponsenso compressor. The problem was the mounting point on the old compressor did not match the newer block. Second issue was the way to tension the belt on the old 20r was with the air pump which got deleted.. I needed to use to new compressor bracket in order to have the abliity to have a tensionner

What did you end up doing for motor mounts? I'm putting a 22r in a 76 and the angle is way off. Maybe i'm just a dumba$$ I don't know haha.:)

I wont buy a thai product again, I got screwed by these tards, cheezy ass product and overpriced.
on ebay you can get precision seal which are made here.

20r and 22r share the same mounts from early 70s to 1995..
so maybe you are a dumbass??
HAHA but really Im using the solid brackets from the 22r and bought oem mounts since after market sends all kinds of vibration to the cab.

Are you sure you are using the right brackets? meaning a left and a right.

Could also be a missing alternator bracket if it's the driver's side that is giving you problems.

Maybe making your own thread and posting some pictures would help?

*Edit: And I see now that you did make your own thread and no one responded. It looks like you have them swapped left for right, and it looks like you have the alternator bracket on wrong as well.

I don't but there is not very many options either.
fit is tight like a tiger, really they were both a **** to install. we were 3 guys holding the seal on, using nylon rope and soaping the **** out if it... but it worked great.

    Little update on the turd.
Finally got off my ass and installed the trans... and removed it and installed a w58.. that was fun

W55 trans shifter housing does not line up and I was unwilling to cut the floor.

    Hunted a w58.

Much better, Shifter lines right up in the center and better overall gearing.. Shift boot at the upholstery shop
    [IMG]

Got all my bolts, brackets and misc back from zinc coating so started to reinstalled it all.

Then saturday a buddy and I started tucking the harness and updating electrical components. Kept the 22re alternator in order to ditch the external voltage regulator, New distributor along with crane ignition and coil, all wired in the main harness away from eye sight.

Still not completed but getting there patiently.

Also got my A/C line extended so oem compressor will be retained.
hope to crank it this week??

Wow, lucky that the W58 shifter lines right up. I'd recommend getting a bushing kit for it. Mine had a lot of shifter slop now it shifts like brand new.

    local place called, sav-on-plating.

    Thanks for the positive comments.

As for the w58.. idk about luck.. I had researched the celica/supra shifter location fit as far as measurements goes. All w trans are very similar length wise, multiple interchangeable parts etc..
new bushings were ordered last week as this one was also trashed.. not to excited to see how the internals go..

Well you know how it goes, some people would rather be good and others would rather be lucky. It's all in how you see things.

I just recently did a W58 swap in my 90. I documented it here. My bushing had dissintegrated into the transmission. Be sure to at least run a magnet through to pick up any of the old metal bushing that might have broken in there. Look through that thread if you have a chance. Mine now works great. I'm loving it.

You will be much happier with the W58 in general. A W55 is way to short even with a higher rear gear. I have 3.42's and I'm still doing 3K rpm while cruising at 80.
