So ive been thinking about this for a little while. I thought about flipping my main leaf in the pack upside down to allow the eyes to grab from the upper side and drop me about an inch. Which is exactly how much more I want out back. Already have 4.5" blocks and pulled center leaf. Just running the main and overload. My question is what do you think would happen? Do you think it would act in the opposite direction enough to be noticeable? Has anybody done if before in a non mono leaf setup?
ive read where people have done this and they said the ride was really bad since the leaf tried to suck in the suspension... by the nature of how the spring is loaded, i can see why... have you ever tried relaxing the binds on the bushings? this might net you just a little bit of drop. but its something to explore.
I agree, if you relax your leafs it will usually net about an inch drop. Flipping the leaf will only give you a severely de-arched leaf spring with zero travel.
I already did the leaf shackle trick and got what there was from that. I figured its not a good idea. I can redrill the front hanger but that's a tiny amount of change. Debating which style notch to put in and what I wanna do with things. Thanks guys.
When it comes to notch think of the big plan. If you plan to bag then step notch, if you plan to run static forever you can C notch. As for the redrill there is a write up on how to redrill the hanger holes on here. I think who ever did the write up got about an inch and a half on the mod.
My 78 Is not running yet, but I got almost 3" of drop by moving the lower leaf (the thicker one) to the top of the leaf pack and clamping them together and putting the center bolt back in. Like I said it's not running yet, so I'm not sure on the drivability yet. Jumping in the bed it didn't feel too bad. Also the bumpstop is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches from the axle.
