I'm new to the board but here I am and I have introduced myself in the appropriate section. I want to keep track of the progress of my truck. So I wanted to start a build thread. Here she is. 1981 Pickup

Picking up shifter seat and cap from my local dealership today and some steelies that might see there way on to the truck. I'll post pics of replacing the seat and cap. Next on the list is replacing the heater core. Also ordered the lowering blocks.

Thanks! It definitely has a 15 foot paint job any closer and you can see how bad it really is. I'm in Kansas City.

Didn't pick up the steelies I wanted last night but did pick up the shifter seat and cap. By far the best decision I've ever made. Night and day difference. Before I could literally rotate my shifter 180 degrees and had about a foot of play and I couldn't find reverse. :duh: Well took about 30 minutes and she feels brand new.. here are the pics

P.S. Disregard Camo Seat cover, PO put it on because of torn seats. Oh and the lowering blocks have been shipped and purchasing the heater core this weekend hopefully.

Got my lowering blocks in the mail! :waytogo: Flushed and replaced diff and transmission oil. Replaced dead speakers with some pioneers I had laying around and removed front and rear bumpers and bumper brackets. I plan on lowering it this week. Hopefully get the heater core replaced getting a little cold. I'll get some pictures up after I lower it.

Finally found some time to lower it will post pics probably tomorrow. Also swapping out heater core this weekend for sure. Also I've been looking around but cant really find a direct answer. I have a 4 speed transmission now. Will a W58 transmission fit onto the 22r? I did read that "any" W series transmission will fit but then I read about swapping the bell housings. Any help would be appreciated.

    Nice truck.
Any w58 will fit from the RWD celicas. since the celicas are 20r/22r series motors, it's a straight bolt on and perfect shifter placement.

The w58 from all supras, sc300's and IS300's will fit as long as you swap the bellhousing from your existing trans to the w58. Very easy to do. No tricks to it. However, the shifter is placed further towards the rear and will not center properly in the hole in the trans tunnel. You can swap the shifter housing from the celica trans onto the other w58's. Also very easy. The 86+ supra,sc300 and Is300 w58 have a steel center plate and are considered stronger than the celica trans and more sought after. The celica and early supra trans has an aluminum center plate. Shouldn't be a problem for you if you keep the 4 banger.

Thank you! that was exactly what I was looking for! I took a look at your V8 build thread! That's exactly why I'm swapping in the W58 i want to stick a 1uz into it next year. I'll have to take a closer look at your thread still kinda confused on a couple of 1uz things.

Still no pictures of the drop but I thrift shop very often and found a perfect wool blanket to replace the camo seat cover.

Thanks lol I haven't really touched the interior besides getting rid of the camo cover that just had to go. I'll probably continue to rock the cassette player.

:applause: Kudos for you making it a month ahah I don't think I'll change it sounds good and I don't buy cds anyway maybe I can figure out a way to hook up my phone to it that would be great.

Update on the truck. I got my heater box all hooked up and the heat is working great! :clapping: Now I can move on to de-smogging it and also will be picking up some 16x9 wheels this sunday from a friend if all plays out right
