I am going to put new fenders on my '90 2wd. I'd like the 4x4 fenders but I'm wondering how they look with the 2wd bumper. Is it better to go with the whole 4x4 front end? I need a valance panel as well, so I don't want to buy one just to throw it out later. Is the 4wd valance wider than the 2wd? Is the 4wd bumper wider than 2wd? (I think it is) Will the one piece grill fit in place of the 3 piece with sealed beam headlights? Are the corner lights the same? Thanks, Bob
This is the place I'm getting the parts from- http://www.crosscanadaparts.com/cgi-bin/crosscanada/product_list.html?img_num=8104 So, to use 4wd fenders requires the corners as well. Good to know. My bumper is dinged a little bit too, maybe I should just replace it as well. Damn, the price is going up again..... Check out the roll pans and tailgate covers here- http://www.sirmichaels.com/prod_display/1/0.php I like the caddy taillight conversion.
Here are some pics of the 4x4 fenders with the 2wd bumper & with the 4x4 bumper! Ive got the 4x4 conversion on my 91 model truck that includes the fenders, front grill, corners, the bumper & valance! Oh & if you want clear corner lights then look on Ebay!! 4wd fenders with 2wd bumper/valance... 4wd fenders with 4wd bumper/valance...(my truck)
i personally like the look of the green truck's setup. eventually what my truck should end up resembling. but i might use a 4wd valance to give it a deeper visual. i would go for the green truck's grile and the silver truck's bumper and fenders
I believe the green truck is sporting a 2wd bumper and valance. You can tell because it's ends don't stick out past the fender flares and it has a 2wd lower valance. As far as I know the 2wd and 4wd valances are not interchangeable without the matching bumper.
It does look like the valances won't swap. Personally, I don't care for the 2wd bumper with the flared fenders, it looks too narrow to me. Guess I need to decide what I want, as it looks like the front should be changed as a complete set IMO. smctoy, your truck looks gooooood!
Thanks for the props bro & your right...the 2wd valance wont fit correctly on the 4wd bumper. It will work, but look like ass lol!!
I'm not sure how I want to go now..... maybe just new 2wd fenders, bumper and valance. The 4wd fenders look good, but need big rubber to fill 'em up. I want my truck to remain a hauler when the body is done, so I won't be slamming it or anything. So, now I'm thinkin' 2wd front end, roll pan, hotrod black paint, peep mirrors, steelie wheels with chrome nuts and rings.... and I'd love to have Caddy Deville taillights someday. Ratrod stuff.
why do the headlights sink in? do all the 4wd lights sit in like that? ive seen them on 4runner front end also sit in. are those just those lights, so if i wanted different lights, they would be flushed with the grill?
Never seen anyone do it, but I have seen 2x bumper with 4x fenders. There is this truck..... ...its a custom one-off bumper. I know http://grantkustoms.com/ makes one similar to it.
