My roof and hood have gone dull in the last year. Its been bugging me and now i want to attempt to fix it. Need some advice if this will even buff out? THe roof looks like its peeling might be too late but what about the hood??

The hood can clean up I'd start with a light non aggressive compound the clear is probably very thin . If your not comfortable using a da buffer I'd try some over the counter cleaner wax flowed buy a polish then a nice wax to seal it out . The roof is pealing there's not much to go on there just cleaner wax and hit it with a polish or wax.

Even regular quality wax and some elbow grease will get you some good results
Clay bar ...stuff like that ... My favorite waxs or compounds 3m and production with production being some best I've ever tried

Yeah i used the 3m stuff when I painted the truck. I was going to go with that. Should i go with a buffer or orbital polisher/dual action polisher? If i use a buffer i'm assuming i would have to go real light with it

Buffer makes quick work. Harbor freight has a cheap adjustable speed buffer that's actually pretty nice! Just keep moving pretty quick and you shouldn't hurt the paint

I'd go for buffer just cause they take some the work out of it .. But always light with a buffer try a test area any of the buffers you mentioned will handle the job . Just be cautious buffs can do damage

    Wash.
    Claybar.
    Compound if it's bad.
    Polish.
    Wax.

You can do it by hand with microfibers and the foam applicator discs, or a DA with a microfiber.

I wouldn't buff it out without cleaning up that paint and going step by step and making sure you didn't cut too deep.

X2 If you are experienced with a buffer they are great. If you aren't, they can be a disaster, especially if you paint is thin or you get impatient or keep them in one place too long. The line between mirror polish and burned or rubbed off paint can be very thin with a buffer. Working by hand and going slow will let you see problems and fix or avoid them.
If you want to get experience with a buffer, go to a u-pull-n-pay junk yard and get a random hood and go crazy. Then switch to your truck when you have the experience.
Just my two cents. Hope it helps.

Definitely go through my steps and clean up the paint first.

Rather spend the extra time doing it proper than being fast and worsening your problems.

    good luck

I'd skip it all and repaint the truck I mean if the clear s hazing on the hood it's starting to let go from the base . And will air rate and start lifting like the roof is doing .. Or re spray the hood and roof . If the rest of the body has good paint
