almost done with the clutch, just one question, i lost a bit of gear oil and i was wondering if i can put some in from where the shifter bolts up or should i use the plug and where is it located??? thanks boys! Phil
u can use the shifter area..but i recommend the bolt on the side. as that is where u will measure it from..it should be on the left side of the transmission..
i find its easier on a lowered car to just take the fill bolt out of the tranny then fill from the top. soon as it starts dripping out the bolt hole stop putting oil in, wait for it to stop dripping. waste a bit more oil this way, but i think the pain in the as$ of the bottle under the car is more then taking the shifter off. just gotta be careful about drips in the car
Yes! It is impossible to get a bottle in the and tip it up to fill from the side. I do excatly your way! Works everytime!
gl5 75w90 also guys they make little pumps that attach to the top of the bottle and allow you to simply pump the oil in through the check plug...... can find them for $5-$10 at most auto parts stores
I did not know how to do this so I got a rubber hose and put it in the fill hole, and squeezed the bottles empty. my arms and hands were so sore and it took forever.. probably dropped a pint or more on the floor as well lol... just to warn you, if you like your hair as much as I do, do not get it in your hair... it took me an entire bottle of shampoo, conditioner to get the smeellly sheit out...
personally my tranny hated synthetic and so do a lot of yota trucks............. now in the engine it works great but in my tranny it was hard to shift etc. this has happened to quite a few people too. So I just run a redline conventional in my tranny.
