Or these. I'd rock them on my truck. Like a 22" should tuck, if I wrap electrical tape around the outside instead of using a tire lol
Today, or tonight I should say, I took my truck for a cruise down to a nearby town. Made the excuse in my mind I needed another TV dinner, but I think I just wanted to hit the curves lol. I took it through some nice sharp corners at 40-50 and it stuck like glue. Forgot to get any video, will later on.
I tried again to figure out where water is leaking into the cab.Took off the cowl, fender and glove box and smeared silicone on anything that even looked like it may be the source of the leak. Not confident I got it. We'll see. While its torn down I'm replacing the glove box with one that isn't scratched as bad and installing the stock speaker boxes in the dash I got from the junk yard. I have to modify the box to fit the Fosgates I have, but its going well so far.
Good luck with the water leak. That can be a pain. I had to seal a few leaking windshield gasket cracks. Just used some black RTV lol. Today I was in the garage and found a perfect piece of lawn edging. Aka, cheap front lip kit haha. So I trimmed it down to 48" wide and taper cut the sides. Straightened my valance as best as I could, then pliered the bottom flange to be more or less flat. Drilled 9 small holes, little under 1/8". Used some nice captured washer self tapping screws to bite into the holes. It doesn't look perfect but I kept another 5 feet of the material for replacement. I will post better pics later but here is a small one for now.
Yesterday got the wife to go for a ride in my truck( she hasn't been in it since this build started). We drove up to Wooden Valley, wine tasting & lunch!! AC is not functional.outside temp 101/inside 105!! Guess the AC reconnection is in order! Aeroquip fittings & braided hose!!
Went at my bed with a drill and wire wheel and then painted it with a brush on industrial rustoleum gloss black paint.
I have used the same paint on stuff. It is excellant. All colors except silver/aluminum are kinda thick so you should thin it if you care. Lays out really nice though on a warm day. We have done entire dodge trucks that way with various colors. Holds up to scratches and abbrations really well. Its like 30 bucks a gallon, 8 a quart.
Started the lay out of where hoses have to go to get my AC back up & running ,& a list of Aeroquip fittings. Finding out what thread type & size was a plain. -6 is 9/16 X 14 -8 is 3/4 x 16 -10 is 7/8 x 14 And all are standard thread @ the pump, firewall & other connections! Will change the condenser & accumulator, & have to run a longer than wanted -6 hose from the firewall to the accumulator as the fittings are all female to hose,so can't connect as Toyota did!
It always seems weird to me when people put a/c in. Thats dead weight in my rigs. Never kept it in anything I drive. Even when I lived in vegas i didn't like a/c. Guess I belong on the surface of the sun or something lol
My truck is a SR5 ,came with AC,though it's been disconnected sense I started my build,12 years ago! Weight is not a issue, this is a custom show truck, with more than enough power ! And no AC is needed up in the PNW, my oldest son lives in Lynwood, & I'm planing on driving my truck up for Summer Slam,Aug17!
Lucky you sr5 owner! PM when u cruise up to lynnwood ill make the trip to see truck actions truck in action! Haha. Seriously though love to see the ride in person and meet a fellow forumer! Oh yea on my truck today I put my rear mud flap brackets back on but cut the mud flap mount off cause the open space behind rear wheels looked tarded.
Seriously truck action, hit up some seattle guys when you come up. I am planning on having my 78 at summer slam again. was there in 09 and thats the last time i really showed it. hoping to have enough done for a mag feature by then. we'll see lol. today all i did with my truck was take it to my new job
This morning it started as a complete stout, 1962 body on a 1974 chassis and now the remains And the 9.5" K series diff with 33's
i changed the thermostat (it was stuck open), changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, flushed cooling system and added new coolant and cleaned the carb with carb cleaner..... runs like a champ again!
Fitted the one & only hose I can for tow weeks( shows) , & fond that my train horn is dead( can't have that),so now another item to fix!!
In regards to Summer Slam, I will post my cell number the night before leaving Cali. in Events!! As of now looks like I'm staying @ Quality Inn , pretty close to the airport!
