I've been hearing about a flex thro and from what i see its just like a pop out window on the old vw bugs. i have a 95 yota and was wondering how to do it were to get the parts and all that. thanks
Haven't heard of it. I always thought it would be cool to make a roll down rear window like the chevy blazers had. Or maybe one that opened at the bottom like the windshields on some of the 1930's cars did. it would probably be a nightmare to get it to seal though.
its an oldschool thing, I dont think you can find a new one anywhere and good luck finding a used one! It was a lexan window and the sides popped out kinda like Bug popouts. Bug pop outs are hinged, the flex actually bends. Theres some pics here Butterfly/Flex-through Back glass - Datsun Mini Truckin - Page 1
yup, i was looking into this the other day for a short period of time and from what i found, most take the entire tailgate assembly off of a 4runner, cut out the back wall of the cab and weld the whole thing in. whole lotta work.
How about hacking with minivan pop out parts. My wife would kill me but I'v been looking at the rear pop outs in her Pontiac Montana. The pop outs are electric and all the hardware bolt (get a glass shop to drill or get the diamond hole saw from HF on. Won't flex like Lexan but could hinge at the top and pop at the bottom. http://media.wheels.ca/vehicles/1049/727350/2007-Pontiac-Montana-SV6-727350-8-sm.jpg
