ok..... I have W55 trans, still trying to figure out what i have in the rear end. A friend of mine is suggesting the W58. I'm not a tranny guy either and gear ratios...I'll be getting a crash course in gear ratio's tonight. Learning is occuring!! in the mean time, would a W58 do me justice?
I hope it's reading correctly. The only way I could calculate a 25" tire with a W55 at ~80mph at 4300RPM is if the previous owner put a 4.56 rear end in your truck. Can I ask you... exactly where does your 1st gear stop? lol your 0-60mph must be pretty quick if this is true.
1st 30mph @4000 2nd 50mph @4000 3rd 65mph @4000 4th almost 75 @4000 5th 80 @4000 I'll charge my GoPro tonight and upload a video tomorrow. That way i can see the time between shifting as well and figure out what my 0-60 is
sparked an interest, so i took everything apart and sure enough, i had a couple bad wires. after fixing them these are updates from what i put last night. shifting at 4000rpm 1st - 30mph 2nd - roughly 50mph 3rd - roughly 65mph 4th - 80mph 5th - @3500 rpm i'm at 90
Same as CinNAMmon, I cruise 2 high speeds for a great distance,& no problem. Just made a 570 mile to a truck show , 70plus all the way! Through my engine is not stock in any way!
Thanks guys. Not bad at all for your results now being corrected from the wiring being off lol. I tried inputting W55 ratios and various rear ends I could imagine would come on our trucks. Use this. http://www.f-body.org/gears/ I put 225/40/18's, redline at 6250 (that's our rev limiter, redline is 5800) and ratios from here. Toyota W transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You could try counting your gear ratio by jacking up the truck on jackstands to get the rear tires off the ground and let someone spin the driveshaft as the other person counts wheel revolutions. i'm getting mixed results. Rear ends could be 3.07, 3.27 (I believe this exists), 3.41/3.42, 3.55, 3.727 (had this on my automatic xcab 7.5" diff), 4.10's and etc. I can't recall many final drive ratios. Here are some. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/en...2wd-rear-axle-gearing-transmission-info-3313/ Look on your truck's cab door plate on the driver's side. There should be some markings. It should have G followed by some numbers, or F with some numbers.
I was following this thread, what exactly do I look for to see what I got, there's a sticker like plate on my driver side. I saw the w55 but cant tell the rest. Thanx
F372 = 7.5" 3.58's with a 2 pinion open diff. That's your final drive, 3.58 and your w55 transmission. sounds about right
