Since I am a full time student and also work full time (FedEx); finding time to work on the truck is scarce. But when I do find time, I try and use every second possible. I picked up this 76' hilux not too long ago and have been piecing it together slowly. I'm not much of a car mechanic, but I know enough to work with them. Some parts to list so far are (some not installed yet):

    Weber 32/36 carb
    New NGK spark plugs/wires
    cap/rotor
    Crinkle finished valve cover
    LCE EGR block off plate
    new serpentine/AC belts
    New brake master
    New clutch master
15x8.5 +7 OS Prime Mesh wheels (Brand new never mounted from 1995 :D. Picked it up from craigslist from some older gentlemen who found it in the corner of his garage.)

I'm aiming for a budget/nostalgia build. Keeping the original paint as well as the retro stripes. My plans for her next are some fender mirrors (hard to find the NOS ones  ) and hopefully some tires soon.

Now... Should I go for a 3in drop or a 4? Been debating with myself for awhile. I want to tuck either a 205/60/15 tire or 195/60/15. The wheels are 15x8.5 with a +7 offset. Also what should the timing be with the weber carb on? I have it at 8* advanced. Is that fine?

Hopefully by next week I can update her with some more progress. Now for the pics.

    When I picked her up

I'm running 15x8.5 with 195/50 tires. Doesn't look so far out once you mount some rubber on there and drop it. I did pull my front fenders out a tad.

Small update: Havn't really been workin' on the car much because of an injury I sustained from work. But I did pick up a couple nice goodies.

    Thanks Rcksqrl for the springs.

Wow! Super clean looking truck. Engine bay looks nice and clean, too. You made the grill repaint look so easy I might have to do that to mine!

Finally got some work on the car this weekend. Swung by the junkyard and picked up some 89' volvo seats as well as a ford ranger lip. Big props to jdbragg for giving me the idea for the front lip.

The lip before I chopped it up.

So I went ahead and folded that small lip on the front of the truck so the lip could accommodate the ford ranger lip better.

    Here it is bolted up.

And here are the volvo seats. Surprisingly the stock seat rails from the original bucket seats fit PERFECTLY onto the volvo seats. I just had to modify the holes a bit to accommodate the stock holes. Gotta love those headrests. :D

Another small update. Picked up a Momo wood steering wheel and NRG short hub. Thanks to kmghawaii for the hub recommendation.

Love the steering wheel just like kmghawaii's truck. Can't wait to see when those wheels are on with the lowering. How much are you dropping in the rear? What's your setup going to be?

I'm going to start with 4" lowering blocks in the rear first. If it's not low enough, then I'll go ahead and pull a leaf.

Awesome seat choice fits the truck well . Lookin forward to seeing those wheels on there

Should be fine with eight degrees advanced most webers specially warm weather like any were from 6 to 8 degrees of advance .

So, I noticed you got some sweet new BBS for your build, which means you may not need your old stock wheels/hubcaps once you install them. I am also building up a '76, but I'm trying to keep the wheels stock and I'm missing a hubcap.

Would you be willing to sell me your set of hubcaps? My ride would really appreciate it! If you're interested, message me and we can work something out. Thanks!
