Hello my name is Sean, I live in Fairbanks, AK and I am currently rebuilding a 79 SR5 LWB 2WD that's been in my family longer than I have. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for spending money on an old bucket that's not even 4WD up here in the frozen north but I wanted a classic sports car and already had this so what the hell. I had a few questions on cam choices/manufacturers and what people were doing for LSD carriers in the 7.5" rears? I read somewhere that a Front carrier from the newer Tacoma IFS will work. Does anyone have any info on this? Old pictures from this fall mostly together now with a new passenger corner.
Got any recent pics?looks like it's in pretty good shape. Is that a CRX in the first pic.Sh!t those are fun too.
I will get some recent pics soon. The winter is frigid up here and it's been in storage. Yeah it's an 89 CRX with a JDM ZC civic engine swap I built a decade or more ago my friends picked it clean like a thanksgiving turkey and I scrapped it for the steel after it threw a rod. When I go and retrieve the truck I'll take some more pics of the completed engine and gutted interior awaiting upholstery work.
Welcome Sean! Glad you are rebuilding this RN44. I've had my RN34 since it was brand new and I will never get rid of it. It's still a fun truck to drive with its go-fast goodies. The SR5's were advertised as being Toyota's "Sports Truck" so you do have a classic sports car I'm running an LC Engineering street cam along with their rocker arms. Let me know if you are in need of parts. I can help steer you in the right direction. Rick
Welcome Bro.. Fairbanks huh? Not a bad place i was stationed there for four years didnt want to leave but got to go where the ARMY sends me. take it easy.
Went and shoveled out the old dog today, just got it home. Gotta wait for the ground to thaw and dry up before I get to the real work but snapped a few pics. new fender and headlight surround No more California emissions package or a/c components! I think more of the interior is in the house than in the truck at this point. Found this sweet little piece in a 4WD at the boneyard. LCE has nice stuff but it can get spendy and shipping up here costs as much as the parts do But they are one of the only and from what I've read the best R engine guys out there. I am looking for 22R aluminum rockers and new shaft assemblies.
