does anybody know how many camber shims does a 1992 toyota pickup have because my wheels have possitive camber. i have not messed wit the torsion bars at all it has drop spindles and bj flip
i did take it to get it aligned about a month ago and they were giving me a hard time cuz it was lowered
most shops will tell you they wont be able to align it properly if its lowered. You gotta find one that knows whatsup.look for the employees with lowriders outside the shop
This^^^ scope the lot, or call up and be like "hey you allign lowered cars?" if they give you an answer like , duh, thats your shop. lol
Since we're talking about shinning for the camber could I shim the UCA without taking off the tire and unbolting the UBJ?
Make sure you find a good shop. I have yet to find a shop that can align my 78. Its too low and the stock rims sit too far into the fender for their tool to clear the body. He was also totally baffled that on a 78 the UCA shaft is mounted to the back of the spring cup. So shims add NEGATIVE camber. I told him take out all the shims and set the toe. He was a moron. I will be doing my own soon. You can usually do it yourself pretty easy.
I do all my camber adjustments on the ground. This way when you look at the tire down the side of the truck you'll know when it's in range. To add shims, with the tires of the truck on the ground, loosen the 2 bolts and stick a pry bar between the shaft and the frame, this will create a gap and you can slip the shims in. Use this method when removing shims too. They'll pull out easy this way. When you have the shims in and want to tighten the bolts, jack the truck up by the cross member a little and when it raises up, the shaft will pull up against the shims, holding them in place tighter and help to keep them from spinning when you tighten the bolts.
Good tips beefed. That theory would work just the same on hilux upper arms. Ill try to get some pics when I adjust mine.
