It was getting too cold to ride my motorcycle (83 kz 550) to work in the mornings, so my dad, who lives in Washington state found me an 85 pickup that someone just gave him. It has 238,000 miles on it. I picked it up in WA and drove it back down here to Santa Barbara. This thing runs great. Dad also gave me a spare 20r w/tranny and I hope to rebuild that soon. I hope to slam it down, get some nice fitting wheels, and make it a little rat rod... someday. Here's how it looked when my dad got it. The front end is a little smashed up so I got to fix that too So much moss Home in Santa Barbara!
Wow cleaning it up turned it around a lot. Some new front pieces some flat black paint and a set of decent rims and you will be sittin pretty.
WOW !!! Nice truck, bud ... I see ALLOT of potential there ... Keep us posted on what you do with it and keep the pics comin' ... Welcome to TM ...
Update I've had the truck now for a year and haven't done much to it in this pic. My buddy Jesse came over to help me once I got my lowering kit. My badass red 3.5 ton jack from Costco. So glad I bought that. 3" Blocks and U-Bolt I had a really hard time getting the tie-red end stud to stop spinning when I was installing the new spindles. Using the block of wood, I jacked up the lower control arm, which pressed the tie rod into the knuckle, and stopped it from spinning. All lowered, but it doesn't look right. Still too high, and the wheels are terrible. Back out in the street, looking lower, but still not low enough. Back into the garage for oil change, and some new shoes. Found some Starion wheels on Craigslist for pretty cheap. 16X8 front 16X9 rear Looking better, but still got a ways to go. Then I found a Yakima roof rack. I'm looking for a basket and fairing for the rack now I'm feeling much better about driving this around now, but I still need to work on the front end. Sad front end
Welcome! Your truck has come a long way from when your Dad first took possession of it. Simple cosmetics for the front end & you'll be all set. Rick

Thanks man, and thanks for the offer to trade. I actually have a new bumper and corner lights coming in the mail sometime today. I also just picked up that roof rack this weekend on Craigslist for $100. I bet there's tons around you in LA too [luckly]. SB has slim pickins [damnit].
