so im looking to buy a 4x4 and theres one for sale it has a crisp paint job clean straight body a three or four inch lift but thats all i know so my question is what is a average price for one of these lets just say it has the standard 22re carb with blocks and lift spinals? idk thanks again
On Guam where I'm from a cherry truck from that year with nice paint a lift and a good running motor would be upwards of $7000.Depending on tires, rims, condition of chassis,motor,A/C and all that.Good luck man whats your budget?Got any pics of the truck you want to buy?Oh BTW the carbed edition is the 22r the EFi is the 22re hence the E.
7000? haha mybad im used t writing 22re but yeah its a 22r carb with a worked on head interior is gone, straight body and chassis, paint is good a lil rust but nothing bad for a 81. i took some pictures today but i was wondering how i can tell whether the tranny is a 5 speed or 4 speed its nice still contact with owner haha and money i just dont wont to go over 3500 but i consider myself a dollar baller
Looks good in the pics.Straight axle in the front cant go wrong.Since you got in to take pictures try shifting it.My four speed has four bolts on the top part where the shifter mounts and my five speed has six bolts and the plate is longer.I'm guessing you probably got a 4 speed.I'm sure you can get a better deal back there. Its just hard to find a truck that old in good condition over here. The salty air kills our trucks.
haha no i like my taco but i might be buying this for my dad.. he had a 93 4x4 but had to sell it a long time ago for dirt cheap..so now i wanna get him this for his birthday....and for myself hahahahaha
Trucks like that, in good mechanical condition, are goin' for $3,000 to $3,500 tops 'round here ... Guess it's all about the area you're in on how much you pay for it ... That is a sweet yota, bro ... Good luck ...
I agree. In Colorado that truck would be $2500 to $3500 in the condition its in. And there doesn't seem to be that many trucks in that era around here in that condition so It would go fairly fast. Looks like a good looking truck and a great start to a project or daily driver. Somebody else with more knowledge can chime in here, but I thought I read that Toyota didn't put the 5 speed into the 4x4's until the mid to late 80's. I could be mistaken though.
I paid $2600 for my 83 SR5 only because most around here are pretty thrashed. Mine came with a 3" leaf spring lift, lockers and 4.88s in both axles and supposedly a Marlin Crawler rebuilt tranny on 32" BFGs. Id check your local craigslist or even the Marlin Crawler forum since they are based out of California. I want to say 81 was still a 4 speed.
