Ok so I scored big time this weekend :headbang: I picked up an 89 x-cab SR5 that was a one owner and has 135000 original miles on the 3VZE. Ill get pictures up soon. It runs like a champ which I couldn't believe but I'm wanting to add some much needed HPs. Ive looked around some but cant really find anything....any help would be much appreciated. I hear everyone downing them but I was surprised at the power it had. Of course I had a very old and tattered 22re in my last yota so this one seemed somewhat quicker. Anyway, throw some idea my way. Preciate cha!

Im doing plugs, wires, oil change and cold air intake this weekend. Im also slapping on a high flow magnaflow cat and muffler with 2.25" piping. That should help some and make it sound just right.

Did the truck get it's head bolts redone and retorqued to the newer specs? Glad you found a nice lower mileage 3VZ-E truck! Seems like it'll do you good! :)

    Is it manual?

Yeah I was stoked when I found it. Not real sure about the head bolts. Where can I find some documentation on that? And yes it is a manual.

I remember my old 3 slow used to spank v8's at the mud drag in my 4x4

that motor is under rated it can give out some good power

    my mods were

    supra afm
    supra coil
    copper plugs
    removed all the smog stuff
    dough thorly headers
    2.5 inc exhuast
    apexi neo fuel computer
    flex alight e fan
    re made intake tube

and when you drop cams into these truck they gain alot of power since the stock ones are so small same wiht the air flow meter it is the same size as the 22re

I'm really impressed with mine to be honest. I just got the exhaust redone this weekend and it definitely pepped it up some. I did 2.25" into a Magnaflow Cat and Muffler....sounds pretty good. I would love to throw some of those headers on there....might have to save up some coin for that.

You don't by any chance know where I could find some good info on what/how to remove the smog stuff do you? And whats the PN for the Supra afm? Thanks in advance!

You don't by any chance know where I could get some good documentation on this do you? I have an oil leak that I'm about to have to fix so it would be nice to redo the head bolts at the same time. Thanks!

Have a question on the Doug thorley headers, I know the 3.0 has this stupid cross over that causes compression problems in cylinder 5. Does the header run 2 Seperate out or does it still cross ove the trans and T into the driver side?

And as for the torque spec you might be able to contact the dealer to get the correct specs... I need to get the same info as well. If I find anything ill post it up. :waytogo:

Ok I looked it up on the online manual and called my cousing to have him reference the computer at his work. Some one correct me if I'm wrong.

Torque specs are 33ft lbs first then mark the head bolt with paint pen in the front of the bolt (toward the front of the truck, then torque 90deg so the lines all go toward the passenger side, then 90deg again so all the lines point towards the back of the truck.

http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-buchanan/93fsm/engine/68cylinder.pdf page 29 has the specs
