I have a pair of 10s and a pair of 12s and I would like to find a prefab box that would fit EITHER not BOTH pair. I am more interested in my ability to easily install it rather than ultimate sound. A standard cab pickup is a compromise anyway. I would also like to have one with enough room for an amp, either a big 2 channel for the subs or a 4 channel to run everything.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Eric

Well depends how much leg room u need I think you would be better off running one ten on a big amp plenty of power sense truck boxs tend to soak up speaker performance and the lack of room in single cab toyotas . As far as boxes pre maid truck boxes are everywhere . Just depends on how much room you can stand to lose

89 Regular Cab. The weirdo with the stock suspension.
Remove radiator cap. Hold up radiator cap while a friend starts the truck and backs it up carefully so as not to spill from the radiator. When the truck is out of the way, have another friend carefully pull a mid-sized hatch-back or mini-van into its place with its hood open and radiator cap removed. place the radiator cap from the truck onto the mini-van.
Viola! Plenty of room for speakers! :)
Ok, of course I'm kidding. The problem that you will have is that there is not really enough room in a standard cab Toyota pickup for two 10's and two 12's. Especially if you want to keep your stock bench seat. Take a look at the depth of almost any modern subwoofer and you will see what I mean. Your subs would have to reside in the bottom half of the box in a wedge shape to allow clearance. the fitment would be an issue, especially with the funky shape of the back wall of the cab without major work to "smooth" the back wall. The second problem would be the pre-fabbed box. I doubt anyone makes one of these in this configuration.
My advice, if you want to run all four subs would be a "blow-out box", where the subs reside in the bed and are ported to the cab,or go with a bucket seats and do a box behind the seats and center console combo. Two subs residing in boxes or a single box behind the seat and the other two in the center console. Either way will mean custom work, but will give you an awesome system, especially in such a small cab.
The best advice I can give is this: Cardboard and duct tape. Mock up your boxes the way you want them using cardboard to test fitment. make cardboard mockups of the speakers in both diameter and depth to show you where they will actually fit at the point that your seat needs to be to drive comfortably. Then when you go to cut out your wood, you'll already have cardboard templates to go by!
Ok, off my soapbox. I hope this helps.

Seen some boxes but I have tried em and they dont fit behind the seat and leave me room.

So myself trying to get bucket seats then get a broken console and build a box in the middle under the console.

get buckets, put sub behind passenger seat. in this small of a cab, all you need is 1 good 10'' and about 500 watts it will rattle your fillings out.

it depends on leg room price and what u already have. ive made several boxes for single cabs for 8's 10 and 12's fit this is my sset up now 2 8" kicker solo baric L7s it sounds really good alot of the guys herd it bump at the last meet we had in LA.im 5'8 and im fine and the seat still reclines a bit as i designed my boxes for that, on thing to remeber is each sub requires a certine Cubic ft of air to work properly aswell.if u want more info ask me and ill do my best to help u :waytogo: as the last pic a old 12' i had when i used the bench seat. i have mine mounted under the seats, but i have two amps and two subs if ur only going to run 1 8' then im sure u can run them with a bord in the back to connect the two together my boxes are a mix of MDF and fiberglass. i just ran the glass over the wood into the sides.

You have any of those box designs left over for a 94 single cab? I have two Kenwood Excelon 12s that say they need only .8 cu ft of air space and 4" of mounting depth. The back wall of this thing is killing me trying to figure out the best way to do it. I've thought about cutting the back wall out and replacing it with a flat sheet of metal but haven't gathered up the courage to try it yet. :D:lol:

i'd assume its similar to my tacomas, my bro has a 90 so i'd have to take a peek at it but i fiberglassed the back of the box and its reallly strong (3 layers)and just molded it to the truck body as u can see it gets messy but just take the pre cautions for spills. my subs i belive were 4 1/2 mouthing dept but i'd have to find my sch etches. i used this Rockford Fosgate® - RFTECH Support to help me calculate the air specs.:waytogo: heres a pix as when i built it[IMG]
