Ive been checking this site out for a while now and finally got my hands on a 1990 std. cab with a 22re and 4 spd. Its in decent shape and im looking forward to finally getting my hands dirty on this one. I'm a long time minitrucker and have had my fair share of S10s, rangers, mazdas and nissans but Ive always wanted a Toyota. There's just something about those lines and of course all of you know that these motors will last forever.

This is the truck the day I got it.

Ill try and get some more pics up soon. This seems like a great site with a lot of knowledgeable people so I look forward to getting some great advice/guidance.

Well......this is the first mini ive had in a while. I bought it mostly to drive back and forth to work, I drive an hour to work and an hour back home everyday. My other truck is a 2008 Dodge Ram 4x4 with the Hemi and I was killing myself in gas money so I bought the yota to relieve that issue. I think I just want to static drop it with some nice 18s for now. It will however have a sfbd in its future lol. I made a deal with my wife(she doesnt like minis too much) that I wouldn't do anything to it for a while so right now im just trying to get it running as good as it can.

In referring to your shutter issue seeing those two couplings inbetween the mass air sensor and tbody that's a good chance that's we're your problem is with the idling . truck looks clean tho you'll proably enjoy it more than your dodge I feel your pain on the gas my gmc is a hog two

Yeah after loading that picture I thought the same thing. Im going to take it apart when I get off this afternoon and just do the intake/battery swap and hopefully that will help. It just had the PCV Valve, Valve Cover Gasket, Plugs, Wires, Coil, Rotor and Cap, Starter, Oil Change, Coolant Flush, and all the belts changed on it.

Yea that Dodge was eating into my hobby fund too much lol so I had to do something. It was a good excuse to tell the wife I needed another mini anyway haha :headbang:

So Ive got everything to do the intake/battery swap and im going to try to do it this week. I also snagged some NGK plugs from Oreillys that im gonna throw in. I went to my local junkyard over the weekend and got a 4runner dome light, the missing dash piece that fits around the steering column ( out of 6 trucks they only had one that wasnt broken). I also scored the digital clock out of a runner and am going back soon for the power door panels. Hard to find time to get anything done between work and buying a home but this weekend worked out.

Nice truck, bro ... Welcome to TM ... It's always nice to see when somebody gets a hold of one of these that will take care of it and have pride in what they're doing to keep it nice ... I got lucky when i found mine with all the original interior parts still intact and in mint condition ... I've cruised the local junk yards, just for the hell of it, looking for extra parts but everything i found was damaged in one way or another ... But then, we really don't have the local resources around here as we would in a more populated area ... I did a 3" static drop and threw on a set of KMC 18's and pretty happy with it ... Good luck with getting yours the way you want it ...

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah ive always been the type to take pride in what I do. I love taking a vehicle that just looks ok and making into something that will turn peoples heads. Whether its bagged, static dropped on rims, or just redone from its original state....I love the look of amazement on peoples faces when they see it before and after. They look at you and say "You did that?" Makes it all worth while to me.

Yeah Im like you, I like to wander around the yards here as well. My wife laughs at me and just shakes her head when I tell her im going lol. They just dont understand. Our yards here arent too bad......just not enough of them. I think for now I am just going to static drop it with some wheels. I drive it to work everyday so I cant bag it just yet.

Been a little while since ive updated on here. Got a promotion at work so things have been super busy. I did however cruise by the local junk yard a few days ago to pick up some small goodies :clapping:

Got the missing steering column pieces.

    IMG_20120815_194926.jpg

Got the digital clock out of a 4runner

    IMG_20120815_194920.jpg

And scored the mirror with the dual lights out of the runner as well.

    IMG_20120815_194915.jpg

No more searching for things in the dark woo hoo!!! :headbang:

These are just small additions but while I was out at the junk yard I spotted a mint bed and a complete 4runner front end so im going back as soon as I can.
