So I look at your truck at it makes want to go out and find one like yours.. But the great news is that I found an 82 2wd for $300. It has a blown gasket but the yota is in great shape. I got it last month and this is what I've done so far!!! Let me know whats the biggest wheel I can fit with the lowest static drop. I'm thinking of going with those muscle car type wheels.... Right now I'm just running the steelies but eventually my plan is to keep it old skool exterior with new skool interior!

    couple questions for ya.

    75 hilux

know of any bolt on solutions to the sway bar with a 3in static drop up front? without cutting.

how did you route the exhaust? on the newer frame there are channels for the exhaust in the xmem's. the older style doesnt have them.

can a newer (80's) spindle mount to the older balljoints/control arms? is there a way to use modern front brakes and still keep the coils?

k nuff there isnt a bolt on sway bar that would fit that i know of your talking bout the coil housing that the sway bar is touching right? theres a couple of ways to takle this you can trim the coil housing up (wont caouse problems,i promise) or make a bracket for new mounting location for the sway bar on the lower control arm (messurments are the key) or check out a 78 yotas sway bar i did a 5 in drop on my old 78 in the front and had no problems with the sway bar touching they might be a little diffrent shape

i had a custom exhaust made, hooker header custom bent for the truck and routed it straight back came out the side of the bed back of the cab

hey yankee good to hear that people want to do old skool i did a 5 in drop on my 78 yota and had no problems with the wheels i had touching the wells i did have to roll the pinch weld on the inner fender well so it wouldnt cut my tires i was runnig 17 in wheels by 7.5 and 205 40 17 tires i wouldnt suggest going bigger wheels with a 5 in drop though you would have to do some mods like taking the inner wells out with the 76 i have in the pic those are the same whells i had on my 78 and the truck is bagged laying frame and just barley touching the inner wells i did take the wells out cuz i wanted to drag and it was eating my tires alive i would go 18s with a 3-4 in drop should be fine

the truck looks good, but seeing a late model bumper on there im glad i didnt for my 78. looks good, but not how i pictured it in my head. and for the sway bar, possily mount it to the upper arms and on top the frame. its a thought i had. ive got easily more than a 5" drop up front with 195/70/14s and had to do alot of hammer clearancing inside the wells. and flared the fenders a good amount too. shonuffs hilux is low, and he was shocked how low mine sits. lol.
