ok so both of my trucks are dropt about the same, and the same way. although my blue one is 3 inches lower all around.. my white truck, same year body motor everything is a little higher but the drive shaft is smacking the crossmember wtf? only real difference is the blue truck has drop spindles and blocks, the white doesnt, blue is on 18s 215 35 18 and white is on 225 40 17s in front and 205 50 17 rear on staggered wheels... any ideas ??? Im going to notch the truck real soon but Id like it to not sound like its falling apart till then...
The 17s overall diameter is bigger by 1 inch bringing axel closer while still being a smaller wheel. Gotta consider your overall wheel diameter. I'll bet thats it. ps. notch the x member. prob take you 30 mins...
So the higher truck is hitting crossmember?? I dont know how that could be, the only thing i can think of is your white truck has one long drive shaft and your blue one has two short ones with a u-joint under the crossmember like mine has.
they are both std cabs with a solid driveshaft. and the 17s are smaller but have a 50 series tire and the 18s have a 35 series.
Your first post is kinda confusing so to clarify is the white truck LOWERED?? Angle blocks or flat?? Ive had numerous wheel combos on my truck and didnt have a problem until I bagged it However if you are running stock leafs or pulled one and used angle blocks sometimes it can rotate your axle slightly which would push your driveline up. The difference between your 18's on 35 and 17's on 50 is about a 6% difference being only like 18mm taller on the 17's. Another thing is if the truck has an aftermarket tranny x member or someone tried raising the tranny at any time this would also lift the driveline. Thats all I can think of because as mentioned Ive had everything from stock on stock to 20's on 35's on a static toyota and never had an issue. Hope you find out whats crackin cause my driveline hitting my cab drove me bananas before i notched and tunneled the crossmember and tranny tunnel
my shaft hits the cross member when i haul too much i have a 2" block stock springs 400k miles on them and the other day i weighed my truck at the scrap yard [dont freak just turning in junk metal -be along time b4 this one sees a crusher] 1550 with me and another guy i work with and some tools and junk in the bed that was after i unloaded i was 3890 crossing the scales you do the math!
