So I bought a "ready to bolt on" smooth cowl from toyotafiberglass.com (a guy on this site) A few weeks ago... I was told that the cowl was smooth other than "a few marks" where the wiper post come through. And required "a little sanding" Cowl as I recived it :

If you can see in the pic the whole factory sized relief is imprinted in the cowl and wont just sand out. But I turned a blind eye and did the bodywork anyhow :

So after I fitted it on a few times and tried to get it perfect, I realized it sits WAY higher than the hood and fenders on BOTH sides... :

So anyhow, I contact the guy who runs me around with a bunch of stupid questions and wants pics of how I installed it . At the same time he said that one had been sitting awhile and he would make another one and fit it for reference.I send the pics to which he replies that he sees that I mounted it with clips on the center 3 holes and asked If there was debris under the gasket causing it to lift up that high.:mad::mad::mad:

It was installed with screws all the way across (it doesent take a genius to install a 5 screw cowl). And of course I cleaned any leaves and whatnot out before hand. The return pics I was sent of the new one that was molded also looked like it stuck up past the hood 1/8' or so...

So basically in conclusion, he said I could send it back (at my cost to canada from the U.S.) for a refund of the part only. The shipping one way is more than the cowl itself  Without any offer of an exchange or anything else.

Needless to say I declined to do that so now I have to eat the $115 and have a $h!tty looking cowl to show for it (plus the bodywork I wasent supposed to have to do). I basically got an email saying whatever from him and I would be more than happy to post the whole convo on here if it comes down to it.

So thats my rant about some $h!tty customer service and a heads up for any other TM'ers out there gonna get some fiberglass parts from this company.Hope I can save some others from a headache...:brickknock:

honestly, i dont think it looks bad.. I spent $1400 on fiberglass fenders and they were MUCH MUCH worse then your cowl. fiberglass never fits and is pretty much always custom fit and finish.. just sand down the bottom so it sits lower. but then again if his customer service sucks then thats not cool...

That sucks for you... Cant just sand the bottom, It drops down then 90 degrees forward flat for screws. Im just gonna shave the stocker and keep it steel. Fiberglass sucks. Im just pissed I wasted over a hundred bucks on this thing. As yes it DOES look that bad.:puke:

Hey under construction you realize your hood isn't fit correctly right? Fix your hood fitment and put a little work into the 'glass and it'll work just fine. You can spend a brizillion dollars on the bestest fiberglass on the market and you'll still be working the fitment. That's just how it is there is no such thing as a bolt on perfect fit...

My hood fitment is fine. It lines up with the fenders and factory cowl just fine. Slacker... I was not rude at all in my e-mails. I would gladly post our whole conversation. What it boils down to is that you dont conduct yourself professionally and dont stand behind your product. Just trying to give others a heads up and share my experience with your company. If I wouldve known the fiberglass required as much modification, I would've went another route. I was told it was a direct bolt in replacemnt. But I've spoken my piece and Slacker ,his. So It is what it is...

your hood does look a little low.. and please dont post the convo unless you absolutely feel the need.. I did that when I had my fiberglass problems with glassworks unlimited, and we both looked like idiots...

Slacker make some things for a 78 era truck like an air dam or wide body fenders so I can buy them just to spite this whiner.

So in order to show the poor fitment of the part you popped the hood to the safety latch. Sweet job trying to make it look worse than it really is. And I'm the douche...

Alright glad to know minitruckin drama isnt just in my neck of the woods. Ive got some bum parts from the most well know fabricator in the country for minitrucks and its basically the same scenario, call with a problem, they try to resolve, customer gets frustrated trying said things, boils down to customer saying this sucks, company says bummer brah its CUSTOM. IDK sometimes things are legit and sometimes they are not, lessons are learned and people get somewhat jacked.

To have 2 fellow toyota enthusiasts go at each other like Jr High students is sad but hey sometimes attitudes and personalities clash.

Hope you guys calm down and we can all get back to our regularly scheduled toyota building fun.

Oh yah anymore cheap shots HURRY BEFORE THE MODERATOR DELETES THE THREAD!!!! LOL

Thats ridiculous! You are quite the instigator on here huh? Note taken. It happened to be popped throughout the test fittment but I sent more pics also with hood closed to Slacker. Your speaking on a matter you know nothing about and automatically side with the other party based on nothing:shrug: That fine, have nothing else to say to you.

You may have sent other pictures to slacker but you didn't provide them here in this thread which really is a courtroom of opinion. Instead you posted what boils down to doctored pictures whether that was on purpose or not only you know why.

I'm siding with slacker on this because I know how fiberglass is and how it fits sometimes. It's not for a noobie or someone that isn't up to put in some work. Sometimes you just get lucky and it works out of the box but that's rare.

Good luck with shaving your stock cowl, hopefully you don't get it too hot so it warps and you have to contact Toyota about their poorly fitting stock/modified parts.

Ok I don’t understand!!!!!!!!!!!!! If when you buy a fiberglass piece of some sort and it tells you it is a direct fit then shouldn’t that be false advertising??? How do you expect to get new customers that don’t know how to do fiberglass or shave something if every time they buy something and it said direct fit they had to do some kind of modification to it to make it work. They buy this stuff cause they don’t no how to get there stuff to look like that and they don’t have the tools or skills to do it. Well I’m glad to learn from all this that if you buy anything fiberglass expect to do some kind of modification to make it fit. .:runaway::thinking:

I've never had fiberglass parts not physically fit. But the fit & finish needs to be addressed 99% of the time.

So for the price your paying for some of these parts arnt worth it cause most the time you still have to do some work to it to make it fit? Pointless in my opion. But like i said its my opion.
