Whats up everyone? Been awhile since i been on here and i hope all is well and trucks are low. Well the reason i need help is cause i might buy a truck and would like your guys exspert advise. You all should no why im looking for a new truck but if you dont check out this thread >> http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/build-up-project-threads-23/its-been-fun-while-lasted-r-i-p-12630/ .

So i found this truck on craigslist for 1000 and it is bagged. The bad things about the truck is that it needs wheels and tires, new distributor, all new fluids cause the truck has been sitting for a couple years. Might need other stuff to but not sure till i look at it. This is just the stuff he told me it needed. Oh ya it also has about 400 dollars in tag fees and needs to be smogged. So since i dont no much about bagged trucks and what to look for im asking you guys for some help. What do you think i should offer him or pay for it? What other questions should i ask him about the truck? Oh ya he said the truck lays frame and he said it comes with all the bag stuff you need and will air up so i can tow it home. Heres some pics of the truck that i have gotten from the guy so far....

it looks like it will take alot of work to get it to where you want it. is the amount of money to get it running and looking good going to be more then waiting and buying another truck and doing the bagging?

do you still have any of the parts from your last truck?

I would pass do to you can't drive it and test it out. Does it run even? The price is right if you have a dd and a place with time to work on it though.

pass on it. too much work to get her running. they should have had it non-opp so you wouldn't get dmv fees.

doesnt seam like too bad of a deal, I would offer 600 but I would pay the 1000 depending if the bag setup is functional and safe... also I have a good distributor you can have if you do end up buying the truck.

it's linked which is a step in the right direction. ask for pics of the front bag mounts, and what brand of stuff makes up the air ride.

if it had all the air ride, has all the emissions stuff in place and motor isn't crap i'd give 1k. but you could always offer 7-800 and he'd probably go for it.

do the dmv fees go away if it's sold out of state? i could help you with that if need be, just message me on fb

I'm not educated enough with the bag stuff to tell you what is good or not... I will say this tho... One man's junk is another man's treasure, but sometimes one man's junk is just plain old junk(not to imply that this truck is junk)...

I would rather start fresh with a healthy drivetrain truck, the bags and such can come later. Just my 0.2... :waytogo:

I'd look at it as a parts truck. If it has aftermarket arms and all the bag stuff I'd go up to $600. Why does he think it needs a distributor? Of all the stuff that never view out that pretty much tops the list in the Toyota world...

Id'e pass on it ... It was sounding 'kinda' ok up 'til the $400 licencing part ... Unless you know the owner well enough to trust what work he's done to it, pass ... There could be some hidden issues that he's not telling you about (i'm speaking from experience. I got screwed big time on my last pre-bagged purchase ) ... Sorry, but sounds like a money pit to me, bro ...

    Questions I would ask..
Brand of all parts of setup including bags, comp, 4 link? How old everything is makes a difference
Why has it been sitting? With it sitting for a few years, minus rims, minus dizzy, minus air ride I seen missing making it so you have to flush all fluids and replace($100 DIY) Dizzy gonna cost atleast $80plus
Rims unless you got some laying around $100plus just to roll it around

If this truck was in Boise there is NO WAY he could get more than $500 the way it looks.
Id offer him $500 that way after paying the fact he was fashionably late emmission testing and paying fees on the truck you'll be at that $1000 then honestly plan on another $1000 for all the little things that add up fast to make it a reliable daily (from my standpoint)

If he wont take $500 WALK AWAY!!!!! If you want a bagged truck reliable to go I got numerous ones around the northwest I know of for sale I would buy and drive as a daily no worries and most for Under $2000

Piece of **** (excuse my french) Dont do it dude. You can find a way better bagged one for same price that needs some work. It looks like a basket case. I wouldnt go a penny over $400 for that. I know of another one thats red bagged and has been sitting awhile if you want me to look into it? If this one seems decent I could go with you to check it out... The pics look like youd have too much work to do for 1k. Other than all the air management stuff, bagging a truck is relatively cheap as far as metal and fab goes. It just takes time and patence(spelling? lol) Providing you do it yourself and have time on your hands. You end up spending most money on compressors, bags, fittings, tank, line, etc. If you wanna go look at this one, I'll go with and check it out. Doesent seem worth the $ with the engine and tag stuff... If it ran and all that I would say yea and you could fix suspension and get wheels but... Lemme know

Well 500 would be my pass cause just cause its been bagged dont mean it was bagged right.. I might buy it for parts but I know you guys talk about smog stuff and tag fees alot and I would be worried about stepping into a money pit... I personally would rather buy one ready to enjoy.... Then again if I had it all to do over again I wish I would have just spent 10k and bought a finished cover truck
