So i'm thinking about just doing without carpet. My feet are wet a lot (hawaii) beaches/Muddy/Rain everyday etc. The carpet stinks & it's just tired. Was thinking about buying new pre-fit carpet but it's probably gonna run me $300+ after shipping.

I went to check out my floors and theres some surface rust. Thinking about some Por-15 & bed liner spray over that.

Not too worried about extra road noise or anything, just looking to have something easier to clean at the end of the day.

Any thoughts or experience in this area ?

    Thanks

my truck has no carpet... it gets a lil' loud inside on the highway and at faster speeds. pretty easy to clean though. jus gotta sweep up with a lil broom. if anything jus get a big rubber mat and cut it to fit.

Yeah thats what i was thinking i got some heavy duty rubber matting. Smells like a wet cat in my truck  . I'm over it.

Did you coat your floor with anything?

Sorry i forgot to change my truck model. I still looked though & they don't have it available for this year. I did see on another site a vinyl molded covering (not husky liners). That went for about $130 and shipping was gonna be another $5x.xx.

We'll see i might end up not liking it :doah: .

Tax returns should be in soon if anything :clapping:

    bedliner?

Have you thought about the roll on type bedliner? I bought a kit that you roll on (about 4 coats) that comes with everything you need for about 75 bucks at pepboys. I don't remember the brand though. Check my build thread for the name. It was one of the last thing I posted for it. I think it comes in grey, red or black.
    Good luck

I have the fitted cut vinyl floor covering in mine with the original floor mats ... The only time i put the carpeted mats down is at shows or cruises ... The vinyl does keep most of the outside noise down ... Very happy with it ...

I ran no carpet for a long time, I just used big all weather floor mats, It was extremely noisy inside the cab and the floor would get pretty hot in the summer (if you like to drive with no shoes on like me) but in all honestly it really wasn't all the noticeable

You could mold a piece of vinyl that fits over the hump and down in the bottom and cover it in the roll on bed liner then once it gets really dirty you could pull it out and spray it off and put it back in. It will look nice and cover everything and still fit great with easy clean up.

Do it yourself spray in liner Al's Liner. DIY Truck Bed Liners! can be bought right there on the island (love Hawaii...Really need to visit again)

The texture/spray gun is $55.00 and the black liner kit is $109.00 it can also be rolled on.

It can also be tinted with automotive pigments, I plan on using it in the bed of my truck, not decided if I'm doing the cab yet, they also make a sound deadener....

Any good way of getting the old sound deadening crap out?
Never started yet.....hopefully be doing it by Friday morning. Finish saturday sometime.....

Thought about the Dry Ice/liquid nitrogen, But i'm not into pounding straight through my floor trying to crack the stuff :duh:. Our floor pans aren't exactly a 69' nova thickness....

I think i might just hit it with a heat gun/putty knife scraper. Not gonna be fast but I'd rather not mess sh*t up pounding around in there :looney:.
I also read somewhere else too that Xylene takes off a good amount of the leftover residue with ease.

I thought it over & talked to a few friends.
Decided i'm not gonna put back the carpet or any matting other than the take out floor mats.
The humidity/wetness here is just too much of a factor.
If it gets wet once it's just gonna be a soggy sandwich & never dry. Our heat here isn't 'dry' enough to completely dry anything being within the truck still.

Sound really isn't that big of a deal, You can't drive for more than 2 hours straight here (island LOL). Plus i always got my 6x9s at a decent volume  .
Only factor i'm worried about is the heat like stated above. My feet do get a tad toasty.....hmmmm

Thanks for all the replies :waytogo:

Hopefully get some pictures up when this is all done.

The heat wont really be noticeable, I drove around without carpet for about 3 months. Couldn't really feel much heat with my thick ass rubber floor mats.

Here's some pics....Wasn't too bad at all on the passenger side.
Ended up grinding the metal down then laying 3 layers of glass over the problems areas. Turned out beautiful & no bubbling :clapping:

My buddy could've welded it but he wouldn't have been able to get to it in a few days & i didn't wanna wait.

Never got pictures of the finished product yet. I'll try take some tomorrow.

Sweet! I just had to treat my floor board, no rust through. The clutch master had leaked and made a mess out of the floor. now to sound deaden and run all my wiring.
