If I were you I would come up with some way to use clips and put carpet onto a thin board that can be clipped onto the back of the truck much like the door panels are on some vehicles. As for sticking the fabric I use 3m SUPER TRIM ADHESIVE. It's not cheap but it works good on speaker boxes and seats on motorcycles so I would say it should be just fine for this project also.

I bought new auto/marin carpet and custom cut/fit it on my own. And I made an aluminum hold down piece at the top there. There are existing bolt holes I just used those to mount the aluminum piece. And when I tighten down that aluminum it holds down the carpet. It doesn't look perfect. Like the edges are lower compared to the factory plastic side panels.
I tried to make the entire floor AND the back wall one piece. But the carpet I had was not designed to fit like the factory carpet. It is just a flat regular piece of carpet. And when I tried to make it work I started at the front and worked back. Well long story short the carpet wouldn't sit flat once I got to the rear wall. If you cut the rear wall piece of carpet and do that part alone it should be really easy.

Joey, That is so rare! I found a truck in the jy that was an 89 single cab w tilt, sr5 steering wheel w/o cc and that back interior wall piece along w a moulded plastic piece above between the window and the carpet and side pieces that cover the side walls of the cab. So rare I have never seen another one like it! I brought home the hard pieces and the back carpet. its in blue but I am seeing what I can do...

I used some black speaker box material with the 3M adhesive and it came out pretty good follows the contours of the back real nice.

My back wall has a lot going on ,& my truck is a Extra Cab, still the same.
The stock piece is plastic, & attaches with screws( I changed to stainless button heads), & I used the spray adhesive mentioned to install a headliner fabric from a fabric store over it. Same product I used on the headliner & door panels.

Truck Action- Nice as always, but I want the stock parts. I looked on JCW and no luck. I went to my toyota parts store and they are no longer making the back wall carpet or the trim pieces needed. I want/ critically need those interior parts for my truck.....

My trim piece is a snap on type, no screws..

Yeah it might be harder to find that trim piece than carpet the rear wall! If you want an OEM type of rear carpet you might want to look at fiberglassing the wall to get a mold, kind of like the OEM board the carpet is glued on

This is something that I have thought about doing for a while now. I am surprised nobody has any pictures of this.
