Hi I am new to this forum to start. I figured that someone might know what Im talking about and be able to help me. I just finished replacing the head and head gasket and put my 22r back together. Put oil in it then water in it and immediataly found out it had a water leak. After so work I was able to determine that the leak is coming from a steel line that underneath the intake manifold then goes around the backside of the motor and into the cab. I think that it might of got bent or cracked while I was changing the head but I cant see it to confirm. I was wondering if it is possible to remove that peice without removing the intake? thanks in advance.
If you got small hands and really really long 1/4 extensions yes. Otherwise a ton easier to buy a new intake gasket and pull it off again.
heater line Are you talking about the piece that mounts in the middle of the main intake with the two size 12's. You need to take off the main intake first to get at those bolts. I don't know if you need that heater line where you live but where I live we can eliminate that line. We just cut is short fold it over and weld the end closed.
Ya that was it. I took the intake off and on that peice a small bit of old gasget material was left. So I cleaned it up, put it all back together and it runs like a champ and leaks no oil or water.
