Alright, transmission on the truck has reverse and 4th gear overdrive OUT. fluid is black, burnt, and bad. I could give it one last shot with a series of 2.5qt drain and refills. This is the determining point of the truck's repair.

I contacted a local tuner shop of mine (Fusionworks) and they have a W58 out of a SC300 and a W55 around. What is needed to swap this in? I need details, I need help. W58 has all shifter stuff on it so far, AFAIK

    Pre-#. W58 preferred, but W55 if anything.
    1. Clutch (#1/#2 where can I get this?!)
    2. Flywheel?
    3. Master cyl (can I use #3/#4 from a SC300???!?!!!?!!?!?!)
    4. Slave cyl
    5. BELL HOUSING - from what?
    6. A43D to W5x........... trans mount, am I going to be making brackets, here?
    7. Cut the floorpan for the shifter!
    8. Driveshaft! I know the A43D's driveshaft yoke or whatever is going to be completely different. Going to ask Fusionworks if they had the SC300's original one. (update as of this point, they have the piece!)
    9. Speedometer! The truck has an electric speedo? what about the W5x?! ahhh
    10. I'll deal with the instrument cluster later... No need for tach yet.
    11. Bolts for bellhousing and transmission.
    12.???
    13.???

Please let me know guys! I need this truck on the road :D Cheers!

Simple swap. Grab a clutch and flywheel for your year of truck and get the clutch master and slave cylinder with steel line too while you're there. You'll also need the pedal and return spring for it. Time to hit the wrecking yards for the pedal and steel line. The rest is off the shelf from your favorite parts house.

As for the speedo just grab the electronic sender that goes to your year of truck for a 5 speed if the auto version is different.

You will have to splice the neutral safety switch wires together so the truck will start but it isn't a big deal.

Fusionsworks has the whole manual setup since they have two stripped SC300's. So the good thing is that if I do get ahold of the W58, it has everything. So I can probably use the factory parts from the SC since it's there.

    1. 22RE Clutch/Flywheel. So I'm looking for 1994?
    2. Pedal and return spring, what's a good place to find this? meh.. wrecking yards. Would the 4WD manual pedal and steel lines work? Pedal is probably yes?
    3. The W58's original slave should work right?
    4. Starter. Could I use my truck's starter with the W58 transmission? *hoping yes*
    5. Bellhousing - Going to use it from a 22R/E with the W56 right?

Thanks man, more info the better.

Anyone who have done this swap taken any pics?

Nam, with the SC300 trans, you will have to cut the floor really bad because the shifter will probably be at the front edge of your bench seat. (sitting way too far back).

Get your junkyard clothes on and look for the following in order.

    1. A 82-85 22RE Celica 5 speed had the best trans for what your looking for. Has the right bell, right shifter location, ect.

    2. A MK2 celica supra has an OK trans, the shifter is farther back like 1.5 inches (but not too bad), and you will need a bell off of a 22R to a W series transmission.

    3. MK3 non turbo supra trans has the shifter 3 inches back, and is what I have in my truck. Once again, you will need a bellhousing.

The clutch slave/master and lines you should get out of a pickup. Starter will be fine. Grab any flywheel out of any 20/22R/E, and just grab a new clutch for your year truck.

I doubt the driveshaft will be the same also, (at least the front half), so be prepared to get that too out of a longbed/Xcab truck as well.

I just finished this swap last weekend..
    Here is my parts list:
W58 trans, your choice of cars.
Bellhousing from 4cyl truck (get the bolts if you can that go to the block. Couple are different)
front half of driveline if you have an xtracab/longbed. whole driveline if std cab/short bed.
    trans mount
plate for trans mount that bolts to crossmember. (Manual is 2in shorter)
Flywheel/Clutch kit for 22re. (Should come with throwout bearing, pilot bearing, alignment tool)
Bolts for Pressure plate to flywheel
hub and spring clips to press throw out bearing on
    clutch fork and boot
slave cylinder for truck (car may work dont know)
    mastercylinder with hardline to slave
clutch pedal, with pins and springs. I also used the brake pedal.
Plate between block and bellhousing if you want. Manual one doesnt have the access hole.
    starter will work fine
Jump the neutral safety switch and that should be it.
    Good luck on your swap.

Sweet, as of this post, 2 drain and refills so far. Nothing works as it should... I have a 3forward speed race truck, omg yay.

    Anyway!
Ray from Fusionworks said he might sell me a 2JZ-GE W58 setup for cheap... heheheh we'll see about this.

BUT, here's what I've gotten down.

    82-85 W58's from Celica's - car-part.com 'd these.
157miles away, $125 for it. no email reply for the next few yards...
    167mi - $275 - Kansas city?
    129mi - $250 - Topeka
    129mi - $200 - Topeka
    8mi - $225 - Wichita - not big fan of this place...
6mi - $call - Wichita - I emailed these guys and I got a reply whether i want the auto or manual.. replied with manual but it was too late since it was time for them to close. I might get it from these guys.

Flywheels are about $40-$50 around junkyards here, should i get it used or buy a new one from amazon?

Clutch and Pressure plate kit - Exedy + amazon = $90?
Amazon.com: EXEDY 16058 OEM Replacement Clutch Kit: Automotive
    Anyone running this?

flywheel/ pressure plate bolts.. where do i get these?

"hub and spring clips to press throw out bearing on
    clutch fork and boot"

Any idea how to get these?

"clutch pedal, with pins and springs. I also used the brake pedal.
Plate between block and bellhousing if you want. Manual one doesnt have the access hole."

I can't find any brake and clutch pedals on teh car-part.com search...
plate between block and bell.. what plate is this?

Going to search for a pickup my year but 2wd at least for a master cylinder and slave with lines...

If I can use master cylinder and slave cylinder from SC300, any idea i can find just the hard and soft lines?

ANY IDEA IF THE W55 SHIFTER WORKS WITH W58 and sits more forward? :D

you can use your plate. i did. the auto one just has the access hole for torque converter bolts.
the plate bolts, hub, and 2 clips you can get from the dealership. Not expensive. like $40 for everything. or you can junkyard them if you want to. Just get the stuff for your truck.

    Sweet, thanks Domer.

Flywheel is going to come from junkyard $35-40
Master Cylinder could come from junkyard. $25-40?
Slave Cylinder should work from SC300, Ray confirmed this today when I went to the shop.
Shifter length can be shortened, Ray told me I could cut it down, SWEET.
From what it looks like, since I have an XCAB, the position should be fine.
All W5x transmissions after some year have the same splines as the Axx's do. I'll probably look out for a driveshaft anyway.
I'll get the bellhousing from gilpet if i grab the W58 from Ray.

Domer, what's the hub and 2 clips for, exactly?

The only r series bellhousing that will fit a 22re is from a r151f.

Alright. Gilpet probably had a R151f.... and i highly doubt I can use the W58 on that..

any ideas where I can get a W5x bellhousing? I doubt the salvage yards are going to really help...

for attaching the throwout bearing to the shift fork.

any w-series transmission bellhousing that was on a 22r will fit. so find a junked w55 at the yard and pull the bellhousing off it :)

i got mine from a local transmission shop, the guy had a couple laying around and gave it to me for 50 bucks. if push comes to shove you can always go here..

omfg sweet I love you, no homo. That helps me so freaking much!

can I use the SC300's shifter forks and stuff?

I'm wondering if I can use the SC300's bolts? i think finding bolts themselves is tough enough, proper bolts.

Ya the shifted will work, my shifted.r was so close to my bench seat that 2nd 4th and reverse were hard to get into. I installed my shifted backwards now I gots plenty of room. I dunno if the sc300 bolts will work.

    Sc300 shift fork yes

    Sorry on my phone....

    How'd you get it backwards?
Ray told me how some IS300 owners would trim the SC300's shifter to make it shorter to fit in the area where the W55's shifter was.
I'll be getting it tomorrow. Hopefully $250 for the trans with slave, no driveshaft.

I'll see if I get most of the stuff on it. I want the bellhousing bolts and motor bolts though.

It's cool man. I'm just ready for this install. It'll be a week or so until all parts arrive... sadly. It's all getting together slowly, just need to piece it together. I don't want to do it and miss something.

Driveshaft and pedals... the pedals on EBAY got freaking SOLD. dammit. So I'm going to check out a junkyard for those. Driveshaft might be junkyard too!
