A few months back my Dad found this 1987 truck on craigslist in Chicago. It is almost all original and completely stock, 115k miles, 5-speed. It just got a new clutch and clutch slave cylinder. It has a few dings and dents and a little bit of body work has been done to the drivers side bed. The P.O. bought it in 1990 and it has a complete history to go along with it. It's gonna make its way down to Florida soon and I will be driving it for a few months. I'd like to lower it, add air conditioning, upgrade the radio, replace the rear bumper, and maybe change the wheels. All the progress will be documented here. We also have a 66 Stout waiting for tis turn. and a nice snow pic with Dad's '67 chevy van
I have got to say that is the biggest shell i have ever seen. Looks like a fun build though with great interior.
wow great find .and umm that shell makes it look like its gonna roll over the first corner you take lol. but hey if you like it what the hell.
Dad was gonna come down for Christmas and leave the truck with me. I'm taking a year long trip in may and he hasn't arrived yet. now its a waste to leave the truck for just a few months so all my plans are out the window for now, maybe when i get back. I did score a nice set of 17" wheels for it though.
Not much to report other than the tuck has been great! It has almost 140k on it now. the ugly camper shell really makes the mileage suffer so it's probably gonna go when I take over the truck. I did rear end someone and messed up the front bumper but it was taken off and straightened and now is almost un-noticeable. I also vacuumed years of dirt out from behind the seat. the carpet is in really great shape.
hey, not yet. dad put and ad up on craigslist looking for a bumper and hitch, a few weeks ago he got a reply. we went to go get them and the guy couldn't find the bumper. got the hitch for $45 though. i've been cleaning up the rust and repainting it.
the frame and undercarriage is real nice. the spare tire hold chain is rusted up though. unfortunately my dad is not the greatest when it comes to maintenance and upkeep. as long as he has it its gonna get worse and worse. he drives it really hard and just doesn't seem to care about being careful with it.
Picked up some winter tires and wheels recently, got the rears on yesterday and the fronts on today. They look better than the original wheels. Specs are 14x7 front and 14x8 rear with 185R14C reinforced tires. I forgot to look at the offset before the tires were mounted. The wheels are American Racing brand and slightly mismatched in color and bolt pattern, rears are ford fitment and fronts are unilug. Found the tires and wheels on craigslist. The tires were studded and had to spend a few hours removing the studs.
nice score but the truck need the weith reduction lol time to get rid of the camper in the back so where is the truck chicago or in florida??
