orite i was watching a video and i say a slammed truck but i mean slammed without cutting the wheel wells and no c notch either...i read that the guy was running 16 inch rims with drop spindles, drop leafs, and lowering blocks, and some sway away bars....do those torsion bars really work so you can basically static drop our lux or no
Yea you can raise and lower the front by using the torsion bars. Tightening them up will lift the front end but give you a stiffer ride where as loosening them will lower but give you a softer ride.
Yes, They are 30% higher spring rate than the stock torsions, allowing for less bottoming out over bumps and such. I ran a set of them for over two years, loved them.
well i know you can lower your truck with the torsion bars....but what im asking is that sway away bars give you a better ride than the regular torsion bars
From sway away's website "The bars are manufactured from aircraft alloy steel have a 20% - 30% increase in spring rate over stock bars." So most likely with these bars your ride will be a little stiffer. And raising or lowering your stock torsion bar doesn't change it's spring rate, just the "at rest" position. If you lower it too far, the stock suspension's travel will be interrupted by the bump stop and could result in erratic behavior. A stiffer bar will decrease your normal suspension travel so that you aren't as likely to hit the bump stops.
Well, it won't decrease the "normal" suspension travel. The higher spring rate will require more load or force to achieve that travel. You are correct about everything else. Whether it "rides better" depends entirely on who is sitting in the vehicle. It will be slightly stiffer. Although, with 18's on LoPro's I never really noticed it. What I did notice however is the added roll control. Whenever I installed the Sway-A-Ways, I also installed some urethane bushing on the sway bar and the combination of the two made a world of difference in the corners.
Yea, didn't quite know how to say it. I meant keeping all other variables the same, i.e. load and force acting on it, the travel will be less. And yea, "rides better" is totally subjective. I didn't know what the original poster's idea of a better ride was. For me I like the stiffer ride and consider it "better". Others may feel that a luxobarge ride is "better"...
Torsion bars are part of the suspension that govern height & ride! Sways bars, stock or after market, control side movement!
Yes, but to confuse everyone, there is a company called "Sway Away" that makes TORSION bars for out trucks. He called them "sway away bars".
