I get contacted now and then asking if I offer a kit for pre 95 trucks. These frames are easy to notch if you have acces to a welder, but most or some people simply don't. This is where aftermarket notches come in. It's common to see universal ones for a reasonalble price, but the problem is they aren't that deep, and are never Toyota specific. This is how and why my Tacoma one came about. I've notched enough frames to get to know them really well. Example, special features on my Taco one include....bolts in correct area to avoid gussets and shock mounts on inside of C channel frame, deeper than other notches with higher wall to restore strength, screw in bump stops, and plate to pull BPV back and use factory bolts to bolt it back up since on Taco's it's in the way and on the left side. My idea.... offer one for pre 95 trucks that's deep, has screw in bump stops, fits the frame correctly, and has 1 stud plate for the right rear where the bolts that ran through the frame would interfere with the BPV located in this area on pre 95's. (right behind the notch) and sent with my install / tips sheet. What do you guys think? Finally a bolt in notch tailored specifically for your trucks. I have access to many different year frames to check fitment before production. Allowing the truck to go as low as possible while keeping things under the bed, and providing a smooth ride. I've had great luck with my Tacoma ones.
Very nice! if i don't end up running IRS sometime soon, I'll have to order one since i jacked up my frame xD
You being 40 mins away have 2 options...buy this one for $99.95 +shipping and install it yourself, or come leave your truck for the day and have me do a weld in c-notch for $199. Nice post. Really? Why? Because it isn't how you'd do it? This style notch has been around for years with good sucess and has allowed many people the luxury of a smoother ride. I took a peek at your truck, a lot of these guys don't have the money or the skills to complete a project like that, so this notch is the affordable way they can do something themselves over the weekend without removing the bed and w/o years of fab experience. on topic: This notch kit is for rear drops down to about 7". Beyond 6" you'll have to clearance the cross member above the axle. The c-notch isn't designed for bagging. They are designed for a static drop and a smooth ride, while keeping your bed unhacked.
My guess is that it should cover all or most pre 95 trucks, but a trip to my salvage yard will verify. Something I'll definitely be doing since they have every year you could think of there when it comes to these pre 95 trucks. Way back to the early 70's.
For all you negative idiots and ones that have general question or doubts.. Please visit his website streetacos.com and all your questions and doubts will be answered. If youre not sure about something than just PM him dont post useless info or questions. If your not sure after visiting his website than you have no business driving a lowered truck. Just read his first post he has done notches for tacoms 95-04 even the newer models. Now hes doing toyota truck before 95. That means for example that I have an 82 and that will be just fine for my truck too. Its easier for the 95 or before trucks because the frame is boxed which means youll have a strong frame even after the notch. I know he has done a couple of pre 95s but not anything pre 79s. If someone has one before 79 than let him do it cause you wont be disappointed in any way. Ok I hope this clear any useless questions.....
First off yankeetaco72 the frames are NOT identical for all models prior to 95. Second off if I don't ask specifically outside of about 89-95 then somebody else will and he can post it once or reply how many ever times required until he finally posts it here to stop being pestered like that. Third DVSLUX get off this site.
Thundering02 that post was not for you specifically because you never ask ridiculous questions. Its more for peeps who dont look and think before they post questions. I dont mind if everybody posts questions but more that they check out the site before they post. Im not too worried about homie in new zealand cause hes hatin cause he doesnt have the resources closer to him. Anyways I never post like that just want peeps to know Beefed Taco is trusted all the time and im so thankful hes only 35 minutes away from me.
Beefed tack your nuts must get sore from these guys swinging off of them. :ROFL. Functional yes. Fugly, yes. My only observation on this is that if someone has the knowledge or access to someone with the ability to accurately cur and drill the frame chances are they have access to a welded too.
99% of people can cut and weld. Just because someone does in fact own a welder doesn't mean it's a nice enough one to weld in a notch. (Miller vs Harbor Freight) My findings are most guys with these small trucks are young, and either have a small welder that's great for tacking in a roll pan, or maybe their skills aren't up to par for working on a frame. They have a hard enough time trying to spend $100 on a custom truck part, let alone $1700 for a real welder. This is why I sell so many of these notch kits to guys that have installed them themselves, and didn't own a welder. I'm offering it as a alternative for someone who can in fact cut and grind, has no access to a welder, or doesn't want to pay a hefty price to have it done, and wants a weekend project and a c-notch since SO MANY guys are slamming around w/o them or having to deal with the frustrations of those cheap universal ones. Ugly? Am I missing something? It looks pretty much like all the others out there that you never see once installed. It goes on your truck frame, not on the wall of your living room. My nuts, thanks for painting a picture none of us straight people needed to visualize.
Yes I do think it is but sometimes function trumps form. I have no idea what anyone else's kit looks like to compare. Having a bunch of followers swinging off your jock has nothing to do with sex unleaded your fantasies are emerging. You sure there isn't something you want to tell us?
man this stuff is funny! the first post asked what people think. ben (dvslux) gave his honest opinion. i frequent the new zealand minitruck forum and one thing i love about it is they are honest. they have to get warrants of fitness and all their mods certified by an engineer. since the trucks mods have to be certified pretty much every truck built there (and australia) are built properly. if someone posts something that won't pass a wof or cert they let the people know (saves them the headache of failing the wof or cert). honestly i wish we had similiar laws here. i've seen lots of bolt on notches that get loose and cause problems. its the nature of the bolt on beast lol. at the same time i've seen notches welded on that make me want to lock my doors and stay inside for the rest of my life. i personally wouldn't use a bolt on, but maybe it's because i have a welder. if someone asked me i'd say save up and have someone thats capable do a weld in notch. it really doesn't take very long and doesn't cost much.
Dang...tough crowd. Sorry for trying to help those in need. I'll still be looking into this, regardless of what any keyboard fabricators may think. I know it's a good solution for those who especially now don't want to deal with the high and mighty attitudes of the big bad ass truck builders who obviously know the way God himself would notch his truck. But God probably drives a Escalade, not a mini truck. Loose bolts? Everything loosens over time, this is why people should check their stuff periodically. I like to use top lock nuts to avoid things coming loose, (most people don't even know what they are) and why you'll never see lock washers & non locking nuts on my parts ever, or rarely even see nylock nuts. Top locks won't come loose if tightened properly.
BEEFED TACO----- I dont think you will have any problem selling these. Knowing and useing some of your stuff, i know you put your heart and soul into stuff that is not going to damage or hurt anybody. Not everyone likes everything, thats why you get the replys you are getting. Guys if you notice most people that join on here dont have loads of cash and want to know the CHEAPIEST way to lower their trucks. So thats where BeefedTaco comes in cause he is or was one of us that is looking for that answer. He now makes awesome quailty stuff for a very good price. You can go somewhere else and buy the others stuff but from what ive learned, seen and heard, they dont last as long or are as strong. Just keep doing what your doing BeefTaco.
beef taco- do you visit this site just to sell the stuff you make? "keyboard fabricators?" as in these guys? http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/build-up-project-threads-19/got-me-hilux-2300/ http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/build-up-project-threads-23/kiwi-lux-minor-body-mods-9715/ since they were the only 2 people that seem to be not on your side you must have been passing judgement on them right?
Well, I am a paying vendor here. Keyboard fabricator? That could mean anyone in general, did I list a name? Hell, I'm friends with 1 of them. Just to sell stuff? If you take a look at threads I've made and read any of my posts, you'll see not 1 of them has ever been to bash, simply sell something, argue, or anything else, only to help. I'm not here for the politics, and it's obvious this site has become a look at me and my million dollar bagging project, since these seem to be the guys dissing the bolt on notch, but for the other 100 guys that it could help, that's why I'm here, and why I've been here for years. It's a typical situation of people speaking their mind, but God forbid I do the same. I've never been a big vendor that's out for the cash, just 1 guy trying to come up with ideas to help others. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they have a rude way of showing it. And Burnzya's right, I did ask what people think.
