Ok i curently have a 22re in my runner i built it back in 06 an when we were assembeling it we noticed a lil play in 2 an 3 cylinders, i had got the motor bored .030 over an now after all this time of givin her hell im paying for it now, i have to add a quart of oil to it a week, but my question is what all can i do to the motor so it can withstand my driving, i have been thinkin bout pulling the motor out an going thru it an rebuilding it to .040 over, an try an do a few more things to the motor to get more power out of it, what can i all do to get more power an more torque?

Let me know what i should do?

what do you mean play in cylinders 2 and 3? also what rings are you useing and how high are you reving it? have you figured out where you are burning oil from? that will help tell what to upgrade to survive harsh driving.

Sounds like it's time to pull the motor and rebuild...again. preferably with measuring EVERYTHING this time lol. even if you get a .0x0" over "kit" make sure and measure. that way if it is wrong, you can get the right parts now rather than paying in time and money to rebuild the whole motor later with no recourse since you didn't measure.

That sounds mean. I don't mean it mean... without rings, a properly fit piston still has a few thou clearance and will move. how much, you can't judge by feel.

Your probably getting some blow by with those cylinders thats why your burning oil. How crazy are you driving it? Are you off- roading? Upgrades = cam, headers, carbs, port and polished head, many options with 22r/re.

Well the thing is that when we had it bored we didn't have the new pistons to get the right bore we just told them. But next time I rebuild it I'm gonna have the new pistons to get it right.

It's not a off road rig. It's on a 2wd frame an lowered.

Well I'm contemplating in rebuilding the 22re or try an get a 5.3 an drop in it.
