What shocks are the bagged guys running in the rear? I need something with 9' of travel. Doesent have to be fancy...just work.Pics of setups wouldn't be bad either Thanks in advance.
Im gonna run doescth tech they are off road shock company I get 13.5 inches. A few guys around my town run them seem to work good
Thanks man. Steve @ CanDo told me about those awhile back and I toatally forgot the name. Ima look 'em up now.
So I did a little R + D and the Doetsch pn#4095g have 6.85 inches of travel... So I guess I'm going to have to be clever mounting them so they don't limit my 9' of lift. Ant tips or suggestions on mounting? My first time bagging a truck... Oh here is a pic of my setup... And a vid if it helps... Wasent sure on how you should mount them angle wise and forward tilting or reverse... 2011-05-09_11-52-04_840.mp4 video by pumpkinpirate13 - Photobucket
it currently skips my memory but there is a mathematical equation, depending on the angle of the dangle and the position of the shock relative to the degree it is offset from vertical to where you can get a little bit more travel out of a shock..... anyways..... a nice shock option would be to get some adjustable rancho shocks (rs9000?) to adjust your dampening rate. they also have various length shocks. easiest would be to find a long enough shock and mount it vertically to fit your lift travel....
I'm not running any shocks yet. I'll be following this post to see what you end up using. I need some ideas.
Before I started my entire truck all over to fix previous owners screw up it had the stock or atleast toyota stamped shocks on it and I got all the lift i could out of it, HOWEVER it wouldnt sit all the way down?? But yah I'll have to see what Doetsch shocks mine are cause according to my buddy who ordered them (same ones he had on his truck) They will work just fine! I'll get back to you on that one.
Cool let me know. As far as your old ones not letting it down all the way, they probably didn't have enough travel and bottomed out before you were laid out...
blienstein makes some that are bagged specific due to the chambering of the internals... those are what are goin on mine... you can use any good quality just when mounting make sure the placement does prevent travel.. easy way is out a 2x4 or something under the wheels to prevent it form stopping the lower height and the just cycle the suspension to check where placement doesnt overextend the shock
Still have yet to get one good part number for some reasonable shocks with the travel I need... Anybody else? I'm only setup for roughly 9' of lift in the rear and I know other guys on here have more than that... What shocks are you running?
Mount the shocks on your lower link bars like this. This was with a shock length shock. Don't mind the airline and wire mess. I was in the process of wiring and plumbing everything. I got like 11 inches of lift out of that setup.
That is the same thing I did with my shock setup. I cantilevered them with the bags on the lower links. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/build-up-project-threads-25/here-we-go-5332/ There are pics in my thread, but I mounted mine closer to the axle. I measure 12.5" of travel with them connected, and 15.5" with them removed.
Sounds good guys. I guess I'll heave to go that route. Was trying to keep it easier, but thats not gonna work. lol
