hey everyone so i'm planning on getting rims and tires in the next week or so...i just can't decide what i want...so give me your two cents please can't decide between these rims right here and what size tires: Black Rock Type D 15x8 5x4.5 3.75"BS Black Rock Lobo 15x7 5x4.5 4"BS Black Rock Dune 15x7 5x4.5 4"BS Pro Comp Series 52 Flat Black 15x8 5on4.5 3.75"BS i was thinking about either getting 15x8 for front and rear with 215/60/15 tires or 15x7 front 15x8 rear. my truck is stock right now haven't lowered it yet and 2wd fenders.
black rock lobo x2 question.... as for tire size, how much of a drop are you looking to do on your truck? what is the look you are going for? this will determine what i may suggest as far as wheel and tire size combination. example...... i am going to do a 15x8 wheel, 3.5 inch backspace/offset, and i am gonna do a tire stretch of 185/65/15 on this wheel. i will be needing to do some fender rolling/modifications to make it fit. but this is the look i am going for and the work involved that i am willing to do to achieve this look.......... these are things that must be considered. not sure if this will help you out but check out this visual library of wheels and tires mounted on different sized wheels. this will give you an idea of what people have done and what can be done. http://www.tyrestretch.com/
thank you for the info!...i'm going for the wide tire look but not to where the tires stick out.i like the wide/fat tire look.thinking about dropping it 2-3 inch max to close the gap between the wheel well and tire. i'm most likely planning on doing a B/J flip and start from there. oh and i have another question, would a 15x8 rim size fit in the front without any complications? also i'm thinking about just getting 16x8. if you could help me out with the tire size for each i'd greatly appreciate it. thank you for everyones opinion i'm leaning towards the type D.
ok.......... so maybe something like this wheel and tire combo? that is a 205/50/15 on a 15x8 combination........ if you want a mild drop. start out with the b/j flip, crank down the torsions, use a 3' block out back. if you want to go lower, you can take it from there.
not really, that was just a random image i googled. you can look at more like that, google your wheel size and alot of different images regarding that wheel size will pop up......
hey so i was thinking i'm go with 15x8 with tire size of either 215/65/15 or 225/60/15 would this fit for the front? or would have to stagger?
unless you go with backspacing of 4" or 4 1/2" (about +0 offset or +18) you will have clearance issues with the stock 2wd fenders. with the stock fenders, you only have roughly 4" of space between the wheel mounting surface and the fenders' stock inner line. im planning on running a 15x8 wheel with 3 1/2" backspace (-24 offset) so i will have some extensive fender rolling and stretching i will need to do before i can clear the wheel correctly. so, if you dont mind toying with the fenders to clear, you can go with the same setup im going with or... if you want a safe bet, go with a minimal of 4" backspacing on your wheels.
i don't really know how to do fender rolling...but luckily they do have 15x8's with 4 1/2" backspacing so i think i'm go with that. so with this tire size 215/60/15 or 225/65/15 should be fine? oh and hey do you know anything about staggering your tires? did some googleing and was reading up on it earlier.

well, to give you a closer idea...... this is a 15x7 wheel mounted with a 215/60/15 tire. it will be a decent tire and should be a nice fit for what you are looking for. (talk about a blast from the past huh? ) anyhow. staggering your wheels is gonna be a personal taste call. its not a very practical option since you will not be able to rotate your tires unless you separate the tires from the wheels. usually staggering will require a wider wheel out back than out front, example) a 15x8 front with a 15x9 rear. if thats the look you wanna go with go for it. i had staggered starion wheels on my 86 and loved the look but hated the fact i couldnt rotate my tires, so they wore out quick.
For some reason the general rule of thumb in changing rim/tire diameter is +/- 3%... one conversion site I've spent literally hours and hours on suggests possible brake failure beyond that. How much truth is there to that? With those 50's you're looking at a rotation difference of over 10%. I'm in that bind right now, trying to figure out whether to go with 15x8, 15x7, or 16x7 rims for my truck, and the available tire options. I certainly like the look of car tires better and there are certainly more options.
