If you get the motor I would get the fuel pump control. It's located behind the side panel in the back seat on the left side

Because I narrowed my frame, and that motor looks huge. I don't want a V8 because of space. If I did, I have two in the shop I could put together for less money.

I doubt they make a manifold. I know that I could. But I do need to get this truck on the road sooner than later so I can take my Audi down for Stage III. So letting it snowball, I should not be doing right now.

    ITB's? I can build a header, not a problem.

I'm intimidated by the EFI, but I kind of think it would be necessary. One for mileage and more efficient power. Two, I would assume they are using an electronic ignition on these motors?

Well I know a lot of guys really love webbers and stuff but I personally think efi is the way to go. Once it wired its done. No more adjusting tweaking nada. I agree with ya seth if it had it leave don't try to swap. My whole thought on my swap was performance but stock reliablility. If that makes sense

    Like an Individual throttle body?

Honestly I would stick with EFI. I still have to smog the thing, so doing it legal would be important. Plus thats too much work for a "shop truck."

honestly seth, i would just ditch the 1jz/2jz idea and just run a small block. it WILL snowball into something just stupid detailed and powerful...and i think you know that lol. i know you said you narrowed your frame but a small block, be it bowtie or blue oval, can run log style manifolds and a little higher end carb than stock and make good power. plus it's carbed and guessing easy to smog? wiring is so easy on carbed motors too as you probably know.

I have a 302, but its hard to referee, especially here. I have to run everything 100% stock, from an 84-85 5.0 Mustang. Then if I wanted more power, I would have to redo everything. And thats not really what I want for this truck, I don't want the American V8 sound, and its not as fun to me. I have another project for an American V8, I don't want to keep doing it. I would rather keep the 22R and turbo it and see if ti blows up than put my 302 in it. Kind of want to save that for the F100 anyway. For some reason the 2JZ is appealing to me. Although so is the VR6 and old inline 5 Audi motors. I want to do something less traditional than a 302 under the hood, or nothing at all.

I pretty much just have a hair up my butt about weird motors right now. I need to focus on the Audi before this, since its gonna blow up at some point if I don't.

factory intake system would serve you well. on some 2JZ-GE's, they have this "traction control". (basically a secondary throttle flap that kills power so you don't spin tires)

If the motor has that, you can EASILY block it off by just removing the butterfly and stuff. The 2JZ-GE should be simple.

think 2JZ-GTE (turbo version), but easier, because of less **** to deal with. lol

low displacement VW TDI seems popular on pirate at the moment. something like 50+ mpg and with a little work can make 200+ hp.

My car has that same thing, if you hit redline, or lose traction it snaps your throttle body shut.

I thought about the VW TDI too. My neighbor at the shop just got a Rabbit with a 1.6 and wants to swap a 1.9 in it. Said I could have the motor he takes out. Diesel is cool and so is mileage. And he wants to set up a bio diesel pump in his shop. Would be pretty cool to fill up right here.

Believe me I know about the VW electronics. I own one of the most problematic VW/Audi models.

So this is tempting...but I don't have a truck to put it in and its a long drive. Lol.

Anyways, my Audi threw a code for plugged PS cat today, so my turbo is passing oil through now. I really need to take it off the road, so a motor swap is definitely gonna have to wait. I am going to try to pick up turbos this week. Then I need clutch, downpipes, up pipes, MAF, oil lines, and injectors. Then either run hot IGT or build my own intercoolers.

I should just put a VR6 in my truck. Way easier to fit, and capable of just as much power as the 2JZ. Super cool motors too.

Do the VR6 motors drop in pretty easy? What other VW motors fit in these trucks?

I liked my vr6 but I only had it in its 1st 80k miles so it never leaked anything.
