okay so i just got this truck about 2 months ago everything was running good til tonight. literally out of no where as i was shifting to go my truck just shut off. lights, dash, radio engine all shut off completely. thought i stalled at first but when i tried to turn the engine on nothing. not even hazard lights worked. no clicking nothing. only thing is that everytime i open my door theres a alarm that goes off then turns off. fyi my truck is a 1994 maunal base model....pretty sure no alarm. so i have no clue what the problem might be? maybe starter? alternator? please if anyone has an idea let me know asap thank you. gotta get my truck towed tomorrow morning. sigh....

Sounds like a bad ground. My old Dodge Dakota use to do that but the chassis ground was a bad connection. Try to wiggle wires to see if you can get something to come on.

My thoughts also, wiggle your wires and make sure they are snug and getting good connection.

First check the terminals on your battery and make sure the connections aren't corroded check all your fuses especially the main fuse.

+1 for main fuse too. I have seen that cause issues for me in the past.

thanks everyone...i've checked all fuses in the car their all good also the ground wires also. i'm sure this car has an old alarm on it, didn't know that when i bought it couple months ago found a module called Marksman model s457. after googling found out it was an alarm. so now i need to figure out how to remove the whole thing reconnect the wires and hopefully solve this mess...

Just saw this. I bet the alarm's starter kill feature did it. **** happened to me. P.O.S. Code Alarm. Exact symptoms. While I was driving.

YUP!!! DING DING DING! lol yea the stupid alarm that i didn't even know i had some how triggered and the anti-theft shut everything down left me stuck and clueless to what happened in the middle of the road last night. i took the alarm off cut the wires and re-connected the wires that were split and there you go car turns on again!!!!! this was after i took the whole dash apart...but i guess good thing i was already planning on do that to replace the climate and gauge lights with red LEDS and to check if my speedo cable is lose in hopes of fixing it but no luck in that...so long story short waisted money on the tow truck cause of this alarm

So, what do I win? Haha.
Mine cost me a $250.00, 25 mile tow truck trip, and $500 in diagnostics in a shop. The shop also told me the "found" that my centerlink was in need of replacement, so they went ahead and did it for me, another $200. I had a friend who does stereo and alarms go by that shop, and he found the problem, and fixed it. But I was still stuck with the bill. I was young and got taken. On the alarm, and shop trip. I do everything myself now.
Glad you fixed it, and nobody got hurt.
