If i get the rims rebalanced after I dremel the lip wouldnt it stop the vibration? I have never replaced a stud and it seems difficult. I watched some youtube videos but it made it look much easier then it will probably be.

 

I am also curious what SD Yota and MAC did. I havent seen them online in awhile though.

 

I just replaced all of my wheel studs. It was hella easy. I had a ball peen hammer and I could reach behind enough to hammer them in. I'm sure just tightening the nut on with the wheel would suck them in. I had to get all new studs and lug nuts because they didn't have Toyota specific ones. The threaded end with the nut is different. The other end is the same and hammered right in. It is not threaded on that end but the threads are kinda linear with the bolt instead of a normal thread whatever you call that...

 

Hum that is a good option too. I will look at it and see what I can come up with. Did you have to take off the adapter from the hub to get the studs in and out? Did you have to take the drum off?

 

Oh yea i had the drum cover off. And I didn't have the rotors on the front because I upgraded them. And I didn't have the dust cover for the rotor on. **** sounds kinda like a bit more work for you then it would be for me. But still it sure is nice having new studs. It would be the correct way to fix your problem I would say. Plus you could more than likely do it all yourself instead of getting a shop to balance rims. Good luck

 

Now the safe way would be to avoid messing with the rims but still avoid wheel spacers. I have heard of them breaking while driving. So right now my option is either to dremel away a sliver of aluminum on the rims and risk making the rim off balance (it is the center so make less of a difference) but have no wheel spacers. Or have the wheel spacers risk further damage but have longer studs and not messing with the rims. I just cant decide either way. I will have a couple people actually look and it and decide from there.

 

You still got options

1. You can have the rims bored on a lathe. It's done right and safe.

2. You can change out the studs to rear ones (longer) and spacers. It's cheap and effective. The bonus with this option is you'll gain back some turning radius.

 

Well i am going with longer lugs. I looked at the rims more and the boring out might not be as easy as i thought. I will pick up some new lugs today and see if i can drop them in this weekend. I have never done it before so this will be new to me. Thanks for all the help.

 

Now another question about the studs, will the 4x4 studs fit? The head code, shoulder length, and knurl are different. I do not know how much of a difference this will make. Here is the options I have.

So I was able to get a lot done today. This is what I finished:

Installed the longer lug studs and put on my rims. I also installed my tail lights, clear corners, and clear bumper lights.







I was finally able to finish my interior once the truck was sitting on all 4 wheels. And here is the final product. I am not sure if the shift boot will stay and i have a few other plaid accents i want to do that are a little small.

Thanks everyone! Well the paint is not in very good condition at all so i will start sanding for paint shortly. I also need to paint the drum brakes black because they are pretty rust color and i am going to paint the calipers. Once painted i will do a roll in or spray in bedliner. Once i get to that paint i will put some money into the motor with basic stuff like exhaust and intake.

For the shift boot i cut 4 triangle pieces and had my grandma sew them and turned them inside out. I measure the circumference of the base, divided it by 4 then added 1/4 inch to each side. I did the same thing for the top to make the triangles.

Who did your seats? An how much $$? I like them alot. I wanted to do mine in tweed with zebra inserts but my ass is always dirty an the white wouldn't last long.
