I'm trying to get everything planned out for what I need to get my Dually looking the way I want it to. I like the "Halo" or "Angel Eyes" that you see on a lot of imports these days. I was wondering if there was a set of these that is plug'n'play on my 91? Also if there are, which are good quality and which are bad?
Joey has a bunch of experience in this area follow his thread and it will help. He mentions to buy some dummy 7x6 headlights from ebay then buy a kit and harness from The Retrofit Source online: headlight upgrades for all applications if you sign up to there forum site at hidplanet.com you get a discount. He knows whats up. here is his thread. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/build-up-project-threads-25/ressurecting-my-91-a-2549/
Are there any prebuilt that mount up? I like the BMW style like this http://www.bmwheadlights.net/images/bmwheadlights.jpg
Yeah there is a lot of options but they are not as good as through the retrofit site. toyota pickup projectors | eBay I just want to let you know that dually would look sexy with a 4Runner front end!
I'd rather spend a weekend with a dummy 7x6 and retrofit with nice projectors with complimentary halo's on her. That way it'll look amazing while having exceeding performance.
The 7x6 projectors suck from what ive read. Apparently they have no scatter shield so the light doesnt spread as it should
So much that needs to be done to this little rig. The fenders are really setting me back but they are the first thing I'm wanting to get made for it. TO ANYONE THINKING OF MAKING A DUALLY!!! DON'T DO IT! lol making the fenders is damn expensive!
I found the same thing when I was doing conversions on some of my older cars, what I found always gives you a good wide beam are the chrome buckets and glass front with the city light (never hooked mine up lol). Also when i put my HID's in I took out the bulb shield that came with the 7x6's because the hids came with one already attached
Thanks Dion! 100% AGREE! That way you can make em your own and unique, instead of having that cheap eBay/ricer look That they do, because they are not real projectors..They are another gimmick from China to take your dough, if your just going for the look and nothing else i guess they will work. For anything else they are only good for cutting up!
Why not buy some, these are cheaper than the ones mentioned earlier, and probably less time consuming than trying to make them Ricka REAR DUALLY FIBERGLASS FENDERS - JCWhitney
I'm actually going to pull my lights apart and do this with a CCFL ring(same as in your pic of the BMW) but i'm going to mount it from the back of the shroud, Here is a mock up of what its gonna look like..
Your pictures didn't load. About how much am I lookin' to spend to get the headlights that look like the pic and can you do some of the work for me (So I make sure I'm getting the right thing) and post up a couple links of exactly the things I'll need to buy. I don't have an issue with doing the work, I just don't know what I need to get to make it happen. It would be much appreciated!!
Thats weird they werent loaded when i first checked the thread, but now they are, at least i can see em not sure about everyone else...i'll just upload em here just in case.. I believe all the info is in my thread, but basically all you need is the cheapest pair of 7x6 you can find to cut up, the Mini H1 projectors and H4 relay harness from theretrofitsource.com and your choice of bulbs, i got mine off ebay cuz i'm cheap lol sign up over at hidplanet.com and you get a discount from TRS, got my projectors for $100 shipped, this was a while back so may be a little more now..thats basically it besides supplies like aluminum tape, blue tape, mounting hardware etc. I think i may just make a DIY thread because it seems i am typing the same thing over and over haha no problem tho glad to help anyone else out
I could help you out but i'm really busy, i don't even have time to finish my own truck projects, i'll help you the best i can, but if you want me to do some of the work in all honesty its gonna be a while before i can get to it..I'll see about putting a DIY thread together if you need anymore info or can't find what i suggested PM me and i'll send you the links, just go to theretrofitsource.com and i'm sure you'll find the projectors and harness. I'll keep my eyes open on hidplanet for anyone selling stuff you may need if your serious
Those lights you're working on now look really good! A DIY tutorial would help me tons but I understand being busy so I'm in no rush for it. I am very serious about doing these headlights, I'm going to need about a month to order some of the more expensive parts though. So like I said, no rush on posting the tutorial if you do decide to make one, I'm just trying to learn as much about it before I dive in is all. =D
Can I get the black headlight dummys and will they still work good when I put the hids in it? Like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DIAM...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Thats good your doing research before jumping into it! Doesnt matter what color or style just need a 7x6 I almost painted my housings blue, i think there are some pics in my build thread, the light doesn't reflect off any part of the headlight housing, its all internal off the projector housing, so yes they will work I should be able to write up a DIY sooner than a month maybe in a week or so
hey have anyone heard reviews on these types of projectors with angel eyes? thinking about getting one of them and retro it to some 7x6 i'm get off ebay Multi-Color HID Angel Eye Projector Kit | HID Country Bi-Xenon Evil Eye Projector Kit | HID Country http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/431019194/bi_xenon_demon_eyes_projector_lens.html the last one has better pics
output is better than dumping a kit in your halogen lamps, but not nearly as good as you would get with say the an OEM unit or a retro specific projector that was modeled after an OEM such as FX-R and MiniH1's(which i have) they are even coming out with an S2000R, which is based on the Honda S2000 projector.. I've seen those used before with ok results but there is far more potential out there for that kinda money
awesome thank you for the tips...i'll probably just wait for your DIY thread on the Angel eyes than and get some projectors from the TRS....
