No offence to Brian or Predracer (because they are both turbo trucks)

but a 2RZ isnt a powerhouse in NA form to be worth the swap. Unless your not telling us something.

Much cheaper to get that 143 HP from a 22R/E than all that money (and more importantly time) from just adding a twincam.

Now as a turbo motor its something different....

I like the saying..."Of your gunna go big, be a Guerrilla"

    Just saying.

No offense taken Oly. I'm just bias I guess. Lol But, the 2rz has way more potential than the 22r motor and I like keeping it toyota and 4cyl! Yes this motor would cost alot to do anything n/a to it. BOOOST is where this motor thrives. I wish I could get an ls1 in my truck! But, I'll stick with my little 4cyl I'm happy with it and it has alot of potential. You'll see in August when I break out my built motor!

Either one is good their both TOYOTA's!!

It really depends on how deep your pockets are.... I myself would like to see a high comp, big cammed, ITB'd, lightened, 10K rpm 2RZ!! Kinda like a big brother 4AGE.... That would be a sick build! :waytogo:

I'd pick up a 3rz, the .3 liters really is worth it. Thin your own harness, it's really not that hard to do. Put a decent clutch in it, run an external pump and keep things simple. Then just have fun. :D

i would but around here going from a 2rz to a 3rz is about 500-1k more... i don't think .3 liters is worth that much more eventually i want to turbo it trying to sell other 22r parts to help with the swap or have to sell the truck... atm its either do a swap so its more reliable or get rid of it... the 22r i rebuilt runs good don't get me wrong but rings are starting to fail already.... and don't want to spend the $$ to fix it... any pointers on doing the swap would be appreciated i live right down the road from Home Page they build harnesses for these and wiring is not my strong area they have a 2rz with 65k on it for $1200 bucks the junk yard down the road has one with 100-120k for $850 theres a company about 40 min away that builds conversion mounts for $120 i was told i need to put a spacer under the rubber mount to the frame and it will clear the steering but still have to cut and weld the cross brace..

I was told the 3RZ's have some bottom end issue.

The 2RZ is neat, but it sounds sooooo restrictive. Predracer knows about it. He's got a turbo 2RZ going into his. It's a nice motor, efficient? Yeah. Not bad for a 2.4L though. Open up the intake side (DRASTICALLY) and it'll be peppy as hell.

I agree with Raff. If anything put in a 3rz otherwise just keep what ya got.

I would not suggest the 3rz because of bottom end issues. The longer stoke doesn't agree with boost!!! lol
