So yesterday I picked up a 4runner front bumper. When I put it on I didnt quite like the way it fit. The Driver side end sticks out a little bit and the passenger is alot. Is there a trick to installing these. I would like it to sit realatively flush with the fenders (2wd and I would like to keep those).
The driver side looks right. The passenger side actually looks bent. It does stick out like that. Here is a picture to show even though it isnt the greatest.
Ok figured it could be. I can live with the driverside, I guess I will play with it to see how I can make it better.
Yeah from your picture it looks as if the passenger side is bowed out. Also it looks like you have 2WD fenders. That could be the reason it is sticking out further than you want. All the 4runner bumpers are made for 4WD fenders. That would help the driver side for sure but the passenger still looks bent.
Well thats what you get for not getting those lights from me. J/K man Ya it does look bent to me to. 2wd fenders will have alittle to do with it but not that much. Here is mine.
Definatly no 4runner grille. I love the look of the2wd front, I may just say f it and put my dented 2wd back on. The bumper itself looks straight but the brackets are Little tweaked
Just throwing this out there The 4runner bumper should stick out a bit equally on both sides since 4runner/4wd fenders are meant to line up with the bumper. 1. Is it possible that your truck (prerunner days) took a hit and now the front frame horns are a bit crooked? 2. Maybe the bumper brackets a bit bent out of shape? Try loosening up the bolts on the bumper AND the bumper brackets. There is definitely a lot of forgiving play there. Hope that helps
Well I took everything off and it looks like one of the brackets is bent. So im going to fix that one and see where ot leads me.
The end brackets do help some cause it helps suck it up into the fenders. Hey i have some bumper lights for that bumper if needs some. DionTDE----I have the 4runner grille and headlights but ust havent had time to slap it on yet.
Im going to see if I can use 2wd ends to see if it will suck it in closer. @dgerfan55 if I can make it work and look right I will hit you up about the bumper lights. The chrome on the bumper is toast so im going to paint it black. Stock amber lights might be good to attempt to smoke them.
Patrick, do you not want it to stick out at all? Cause the 4runner and 4wd bumpers are wider than the 2wd, so they're gonna stick out a little.
You need to get that on there then! haha You gotta put the white accents on it like your 2WD grill though. I think it looks sick on your truck.
Im ok with a little sticking out, just the passenger side was too much and if I can get the driverside tucked a little bit more that would be perfect. I got the bumper on half price day so I figure I can mess with it and not worry too much. I like how it looked on Toy_spd's red truck. I know its meant for the 4wd fenders, I just like the lines of the 2wd ones.
The bumper appears bent in the pics. seems like the top is bulged up some. The 2wd brackets on the side can be used but its take some persuasion if u know what i mean. i used them on mine and my bumper was bent aswell. dint look as bad as yours tho that was with modified 2wd brackets and the stock end brackets after the persuasion EDIT: and my core support and inner fenders were crunched up a bit so fenders/hood weren't lined up too well at all. but it was pretty even on both sides
I looked at my truck and I am pretty sure I am missing the side brackets for the bumper. Not as bad as what i found on the Honda I just bought. Come to find out the front bumper was held on by tie wire. I left it how it is. It is working out so far. hah
