today went to the pick-a-part ith my bro(Toy_Spd) didnt get much but i did scores some factory switches lol anD some chrome handles (to be installed) so heres what i did AND FOUND A GOOD USE FROM THE CAP I TOOK OFF.... FOR 1 OF MY FACTORY SWITCH... BEFORE.....ORGINALLY.... THEN CAPPED BOTH THE SAME FINAL PRODUCT
I ordered a pair of Slam Specialties SS-6 bags to replace the blown front bags on my truck, a new pressure switch (150 on/185 off), a full set(1/2 through 1/8) of npt reducers (for reference purposes), and a pair of 1/2 to 3/8 reducers for the new front bags. I wish I could hold off swapping the bags until it is time to replace the rest of the front end, but it will be kind hard to get the truck to the shop without front bags... :/ But I'm super stoked about these new bags! Next payday I'll be ordering a pair of tires for my 2 18's along with SS-7's for the back of the truck.
Adjusted the tow because i just put my drop spindles on. Test fit the front bumper, fenders, and hood.
Got the motor installed and running! 22re bored cylinders to .040. Port and polished head with gasket matching. TRD stage 1 cam. Crane cams multispark ignition kit with fireball coil. LCE ceramic coat header! I dint get to test drive her, but she sounds angry!
I removed all the rust from the chrome bumper to get read to put my clear corners and bumper lights on. I fixed an interior light that is behind the heater dials. That is about all, it was raining and hella cold.
put a tag and insurnace on my truck...drove the hell out of it, runs sweet, gets sideways no matter what speed im going in 1st or 2nd, and without using the clutch. just need a new gauge cluster. and tune the carbs a little...
Tore apart fuse box. Rewired main power cable to box since under the shrink wrap was 3 different sizes of wiring 12/6/4 gauge??? Rewired main power to starter and bought new terminals and ground wire. Hope like heck this helps cause all my fuses and relays look good.
spent $500 on a new cat plus labor with it raised a bit so it won't scrape on speed bumps new piping and an up pipe o2 sensor. All this to pass smog and to run a little smoother.
changed the front bags from firestone's to re6's going to order some re7's for the back also cut a little bigger hole in the hood to clear the scoop and dizzy better. and i put some new hinges on the hood since the old ones were bent.
called out some eg 4 dr with a d15 automatic non vtec last week and told him i'll be ready this weekend when i fix my u joint. I had my ~200lb friend in the passenger seat and bad tires in the rear. initially, i spun. but totally ate the civic. i clearly don't remember my truck being this slow. haha
Ugg I smell like slag and metal shavings. Built my back half once my camera re-charges I will post pics in my build thread.
went to pick n pull and got 4 tires 205/60/15 (wanted 50 series but this will do) and a 93 4runner bumper and valance.
how much did your pick n pull charge you for the tires? all matching? I got a pair of 215/60/r16's for $30 on craigslist
Got my mechanic/exhaust guy checking on some tires for me in either 225/40/18 or 215/35/18. which would you guys recommend for mercury moutaineer 18x7.5's??? Also, while showing off my truck to a buddy, went to start it, and it started fine, but about 5 seconds after starting, it shuddered and died. It ran fine last week, and now it dies about five seconds after starting each and every time. The gas pedal doesn't change anything. Any ideas?
As for tires 225/40 if you get them rubberband 35's you will hate life. Also its an SUV if you want low pro tires buy 20's and never plan on leaving cement. As for your truck dying about 10 things I can think of off the top my head. However I cant say anything without knowing if its carb vs fuel injection and have you done anything to the truck between then and now??
i sold the old 4x4 front clip, slipped the 2wd fenders on, got some different door handles, and some 4runner pigtails to modify for the front lights..... stocked up on some metric sized bolts from the junk yard too.... i think i got out with around 10 lbs worth of different bolts and nuts
$120 all 4, firestone (matching). ride is much softer but the 50 series look better. and also now i rub..
