Okay, so im still debating whether to do the common sidedrafts, cam, valvetrain, etc... but I really want to do something different. I have a 86 Toy, I have not put anything into it yet. But, what I Am thinking bout though is putting a supra motor in it. Heres the thing, I do not knw much bout the supra motor. I have read many forums talkin bout modifying engine mounts and so forth. If anyone has completed this type of conversion, your knowledge would be very much helpful.

1j or 2j is not different.. you want to be different find a way to make a 4ag or b18c work under the hood... you want power? reliability? gas mileage with a little better pep?

the 1jz was a japan motor only i think...... the 2jz was made for here in the US. dont quote me, thats just what i remember off the research i did way back when.

anyhow. it costs too much to try and build a 22r/e/te

motor swaps are the easiest, cheapest, most effective way to gain power. you start with a light weight truck and slap in a better base to build up on for power. thats what im doing. it was gonna cost me more money to rebuild this 22re than it would be to get me a ford 302 v8 out of a mustang that places me at 200+ hp and 240ft.lb. torque......... actually, less money.

How are you going to deal with ca smog stuff. I've thought of an engine swap just dont want the hassel of smogging it.

you would have to swap in all the egr, evap, cats and 02's to the car, which is kinda a pain. You would also need all the wiring to run all the sensors and switches associated with that junk. Also it depends on which ref you get to inspect the car. One of my friends got nailed by one ref for having an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on a swap of his. When he went back after he took it off the second ref said he would have passed it with it on. Its kinda like the DMV, just keep going back until you get what you want.

1JZ was reserved for the other markets and not the US. the 2JZ's were all around the world.

    1JZ's are 2.5L inline sixes
    2JZ's are 3.0L inline sixes

    There are MANY variants.
from non-VVT-i non turbo, VVT-i non turbo, non-VVT-i turbo, to VVT-i turbo.

MR2 pickup has been done and is a very legit swap. I SAY DO IT.

but might as well use the Camry 3.5L V6. ~275hp in a nice package. torquey! and grab a supercharger for more!

not sure on the process but its easier than i thought it was according to someone that has had it done for other cars. essentially, the emissions is all they really care about. all sensors gotta work and such, have the evaps and cats hooked up according to the diagram under the hood from the vehicle you yanked the swap from.

there is another "easier" way but is a risk should you ever get popped to open the hood by a po-po.....

thats pretty much the rules of the game we play here....

you've done your homework :D :waytogo:
