Don't forget you have all the rain, moss, rust, libtard politicians and kommifornian transplants. Oh and don't forget while the west side loses all the wheeling areas the east side is still open. :D

Once I have the truck figured out I'll be selling off a bunch of parts. I'll have a down draft weber, the single 45 DCOE and at least a couple headers. :D

Nice header collection! I think I may have to build my own tri-y header. With my narrowed frame and tube arms, there is pretty much no room to get 4 tubes through there. And I want a sway bar too, so I doubt anything will fit.

Is that single 45 and intake for a 20R? If so I may want that when you part ways with it.

I just moved the header pic in my photobucket so I'll repost it so no one is confused later.

The large tube header is on the truck. I had to turn one of the steering box bolts around and dimple the #3 tube to clear the box too but it does in fact fit. :D

Twisted if you want to save a bit of time pick up a doug thorley tri Y and cut it up a bit. I have one that I modified when I had it on my big truck that I flat bellied etc. The bottom two tubes going into the collector are parallel and they are almost single file next to the block. I'll see if I can't snap a pic of it so you get an idea.

You can also buy all the parts to build whatever you want or get a custom header from Stans. They will build anything you want if there is a market for it. Such as a header that tucks TIGHT to the block and is shorter to not hang below the oil pan they'll do it and put it into production.

EDIT: Oh and yes that is a 45 DCOE single carb and intake. It runs rather well on a 20/22r with a few mods. The tune isn't perfect but it's pretty close. :D And yes it'll be for sale pretty soon. Once I get my dual 45's on and running I'll have a whole bunch of parts up for sale.

I had a Thorley header before, it was nice. But their prices have basically doubled on them since I got mine. And I am not wanting to spend money on the truck right now really. I also have built my own before so I don't have a problem with it, and I have about half the parts on hand to do it already. I actually like building headers, and mine would pretty much need to be done on the truck.

    I did this one:

I saw that header in the build thread and it is fawking sweet for sure.

From what I've been told you can still buy Doug Thorley headers but they aren't owned by Doug anymore. Now the "real" ones are sold under the "Doug's headers" brand.

One of these days I'll build a set of headers. Probably about the time I do the exhaust on my 1UZ swap into the '80. :D

Ya you can still get them, but they want $500 for something I paid $230 for a few years ago. I dont want to cut it up and re coat it if I am paying that much for it. I would rather build one, event though theirs will be legal here.

Ya know if they REALLY cared about clean air and not in controlling the citizenry through regulation and their wallet there would be NO under hood check. Just a sniffer shoved up the tailpipe and the year of the truck period.

I almost bought a thorley when they were selling for $180 through summit. What's sad is they price that stuff according to volume. My hooker supercomp block huggers for my old SBC yota were only $150 for the pair.

Youre right, because I got my truck on the sniffer with a Weber and no smog equipment, and it ran like 60% cleaner than the stock carb did. It barely passed with the stock carb.

i have a unused rebuild kit for the 1979-1983 22r motor. i bought from engine builder a few years ago. i never got to use it. i had to get rid of my 78 toyota hilux! it killed me. i have felpro gasket (entire engine gaskets) , new oil pump, double row timing chain, .020 over sized pistons and chrome alloy rings, etc. looking for a good home...............i have a down draft 32/36 weber...probably needs a rebuild. its been sitting for a few years, was working before i took it off and then upgraded to my side drafts. i sold the side drafts locally

So what engnbldr kit do you have? Complete with Rock gasket set or partial with a fel pro gasket set?

Either way what are you looking for the whole shebang? You can pm me if you'd like with the price. :D

So I lost another bottom end in the truck... I guess a tired bottom end really doesn't like turning 6k at all. A bearing is trying really hard to seize but it made it to work and back home with me limping it the whole way home but at least it didn't come home on a chain again. :D

This was delivered yesterday for my 80. I'm stoked, too bad it'll be later in the week before I'm home to even start tinkering on it. Gotta finish a 3.0 engine swap for a buddy before I can do my stuff.

that theft deterrent must be on later year 400s? and are you going to have to custom make exhaust manifolds?

Yea the anti theft is 93 or 94 and up so I escaped that hassle. :D I won't have to do much for the exhaust really. All the pics I had seen made it look like it was impossible to use the ls manifolds but they'll work just fine. Just need to cut the factory flanges off and extend the pipes down a bit and put standard 3 bolt flanges on.

So I finally made the time to tear into the truck since it took a giant crap again. #4 piston came apart. I'll have pics up later tonight. It dinked the head a bit but I'm sure I can salvage it. Looks like I'm ordering a gasket kit from engnbldr.com tomorrow so I can put the head on the low mile short block I picked up last month for cheap. :D

Yup nice big piece of #4 piston missing. The head is chewed up a bit but I got it all smoothed back out and took a long bastard file to it to make sure the head is flat enough to go back on the other short block. Now it's just a matter of waiting on the gaskets. Should have them saturday knowing engnbldr. :D
