Ok so here is whats up. I first lowered the front of my 93 by fliping the ball joints and running spacers simmilar to sdyota's write up. Im running 18x8 is 350 wheels in the front that I had the center bores redone. I cranked the torsion bars down and I had no clearance issues with the wheels and the strut arms or their bolts. So this week I installed bell tech drop spindles and went to move the truck and now the wheels hit the strut arm bolts. So I lifted the torsion bars back up and then the wheels hit when I turned the wheels. So I just removed the spacers and it still hits, this time closer to full lock. I could crank the bars up more but wont the wheels hit when the suspension compresses. My next option is to go and grab 1/4" spacers for the front. I would like to tuck alittle bit of tire but im also worried about hitting the fenders (4wd fenders arent an option as I like the 2wd fender look). At this point I want to drive my truck and Im tired of taking the front apart for little gains
I ended up just unfliping the ball joints and my clearance issues went away. I then cranked the torsion bars down. Maybe the offset on my wheels are not best for that setup.
im real curious....... take a picture of your wheels from the inside where the bolts hit...... ive done b/j flips with smaller wheels than 18's and never run into this issue. even done 16" wheels and never come close to it........ so im still scratching my head as to why yer hitting list of your mods, wheel size, width, and offset....... with 18's you should have more than enough clearance to do the b/j flip....
Did you not put the steering stops from your old spindles on the new spindles? You need those so your steering stops before your rims hit the strut bar.
Ok so here are the specs of what I have done to the front. -belltech 2" spindles -belltech shocks -stock arms, sway bar, torsion bars. -wheels are is 350 18x8 with 45mm offset. when I had flipped the ball joints the strut arm bolts were hitting the rim going straight. After I put the ball joints back to stock they cleared. And I did put the steering stops in (had to find them first I took them out when it was lifted) I just need to adjust them now because now it doesnt turn at all.
