something ive been (and currently) working on the past month or so. 07 Toyota XRunner, stock wheel/tire size, TRD Supercharger, TRD CAI (open lid), APR X-1, DT LT headers, magnaflow 18" muffler, B&M STS. first run....... rolling start in 3rd, run to 6200RPM's and into 4th..... YouTube - alisn4x4's Channel second run......... YouTube - alisn4x4's Channel
That is nice. Got to love the 4.0 with a blower. Sounds great and pulls hard. A 22re will never pull that hard.
yea............ unfortunately i ran out of open highway before a well known CHP vantage point came up........ didnt wanna risk clocking a 140mph+ ticket. even though the clock runs out at 120 mph........ you can see the rpms still keep climbing quick...... i havent found enough stretch of road smooth enough to let it tap out in 6th yet......... 5th has pull left but you just cover so much damn ground doing 140 mph its nuts unfortunately i didnt have the tail gate down and heard the wind kickin around the back of the cab....... ill have to try and see if lowering the tailgate will render a higher speed.... steering gets REAL twitchy at 130+ mph...... its insane how hard it pulls......... no lag whatsoever...... unfortunately i cant stomp on it under 3rd gear or at anything lower than 3000rpm's or it blows the tires away on the initial hit doh! thats just as fast as i can shift it trying to double clutch it some to ease it in between gears....... the trans is close ratio 3 and 4th...... 5th becomes and then 5th and 6th is close
The first video made me think, oh that would be a good run for my integra. I didn't realize until the second vid that you speedo ran out at 120, i thought that was like 140. I guess i'm used to my speedo which at 12 o'clock straight up is 80 and the wrap around goes down to 150.
So I was thinking bout picking an xrunner up this next fall, after seeing this I do believe it would be better than my other choice (wrx...again).
yea..... best tires that the truck can run on em. i do believe the tires are rated for 150 mph or better. tracked on gps... i have had this truck run up to 168 mph. this was never caught on film since i had no means to do it. the screen on my gps ait big enough either. honestly..... it does take a bit to get it up to that speed but man was i ever amazed..... havent done it again since. way too much risk involved. yes........ 120mph comes up real quick. given the space i had, i couldnt keep on it to tap 6th out..... it just covers too much ground way too fast. its nuts ive run a couple of honda's but most of their potential is in a drag race.... open highway you gotta make some seriously good power in order to pull away beyond 120.... or be able to get there way quicker from about 60mph.. the truck is nice but........ it does cost money for anything to go fast, and this definitely has a good amount of money in it so far.
Yah I know most around my town are 06/07 still running 20 grand for the stock version maybe with 20's on it. I know the supercharger and standalone would probably cost 5-6grand maybe a grand for the exhaust. I dont need it that fast but yet rolling up on a porsche or vette in a truck and smoking them would be sick as heck. However a big question for you would be how does it handle?? Does it handle like a truck or does it handle like a sports car. Im sure they probably make suspension setups for these things. Maybe turn it into an autox hillclimb truck.
well.... keeping in mind the nature of what kind of a chassis this power plant sits on, yes. it handles like a truck still but it dont mean its all bucky and lathargic feeling. the truck is sitting 3 inches lower on SS coils..... blocks out back. the sway bars recently were upgraded to nice beefy ones. it sticks a corner really well now but the limiting factor now is tread patch contact. although its got some real great tires on it for traction, you gotta keep in mind you are still pushing, tossing, and flogging a near 6000 lb refrigerator around a corner..... so the front will have its understeer with the potential of a light rear end. the wheelbase on this thing makes it a breeze to slide it through a corner though...... so easy, an avid would-be initial-d player could do it but seriously, very driver friendly to handle on a slide. only issue is you are swinging a BIG ASS truck around corners....... so you gotta make sure you have the swing room. acceleration-wise, yea...... its got allot of power but its barely usable for launch. even at a roll-on throttle, it blows the tires away instantly and will roast em clear into 4th gear if the clutch still holds. not sure what a wider or meatier than stock tire will hold but i can almost assume it will still do the same if not similar. keeping in mind the nature and simple measurements of what yer driving, yea...... the truck is still a blast to drive given respects to the limitations in place by whatever mod's you got in it
Cool thanks for your input. Ive been wanting to build a fullsize ish hillclimb/autox truck. Always liked the overall look of these. Just didnt want it to feel like I was driving a f150 built for towing. Guess I'll have to go test drive a few and get my own opinion going as well.
