cleaned under the hood Left clean, right cleaning in progress with the dirt, you can see the difference....
got pulled over by a cop. told me my third brake light was out. no tickets or anything, just need to fix that baby up.
Thats cool, but I don't think he can give you a ticket for the 3rd brake light being out. Cause not all vehicles have 'em. They can't here in Idaho, but can for the other brake lights.
Yup, me and my friend were wondering why he was following us. But he was a very cool cop! Yeah, at least i know my other brake lights work!
If equipped with a 3rd brake light (all rigs since 93 have them) it has to work. I started working on the temporary engine for the race truck. The head already has some decent port work done to it so I hogged out the intake to match. Adjusted the valves and swapped out a bunch of bolts the PO used that were too long and had nuts and stacks of washers under them. Other than that I just need to finish cleaning some things and swap the 4x pan for my old 2x version.
Bought her! Got her about 5 miles from old boys house, and realized that the compressors were no longer running. Fuse, wiring, and solenoid(relay, whatever) for the compressors was shot. Built a temporary jumper wire to run from the battery straight to the comp side of the noid so I could put some air in the tank. What else could I do over an hour from the house? Got home, took some pics, and realized that the line coming out of the valves going to the right rear bag is leaking at the fitting. Pulled it, shortened it, and hooked it back up with no luck. Oh well, its a project. A good excuse to spend more time and money on her. On with the pics... Oh, and pretzel cat says "Hi."
WTF that looks just as bad as the rear of my truck. Someone did that on the cheap in a dark garage. Yah man project but hey thats what projects are for right?? However nice find on an already bagged truck it kinda makes it easier when you got all the parts already there they just need some fixin. Also to me it doesnt look like you got PTC fittings so Im going to assume highly your crush fittings are crap thats why your leaking air. Replace ALL crush fittings going into everything. They are cheap too all you need is the the little crush rings everything else should be good. As for your compressors, replace relays, rewire with atleast 12 gauge if its not already. Yeah another bagged yota on the site
No, those aren't even that sort of fitting... They are brass shop airline fittings from Lowes... and that is shop line from Lowes. At least it is rated at 300 psi...I like the layout of the valves, I just need to buy a bunch of the proper fittings and 4 one-way's to go between the tank and the valves...one nice thing about not having them is being able to auto level from side to side...
Today I ordered Belltech drop spindles, all 4 ball joints, both inner and both outer tie rods, intake, steering wheel hub, quick release adapter, and a smaller diameter deep dish steering wheel. Not sure if it is normal on bagged truck without shocks, but I get a violent side-to-side shudder of the front end at speeds over 45, but I doubt that such a thing is normal, so I figured why not replace pretty much everything that could cause this? Of course, I won't be putting this pile of parts on until the wonderful and glorious state of Alabama deigns it necessary to pay me the money that it owes me so that I might order a set of CanDo tubular arms. That is me figuring why put all those parts on when I'll have to take them back apart to change the arms? This way I can replace everything at once. The intake was because, well, its better than the factroy plastic crapper pipe. The steering wheel, hub, and quick release are to put the steering wheel a little closer to me, to make it removable, and to make it slightly smaller, all of which are GREAT things to do when you are 6'5 and you are trying to fit your super long legs into a 1992 regular cab Toyota Pickup. Plus the old steering wheel feels super grimy and yucky, and isn't the same color as the rest of the interior. Once all of this is taken care of, I'll take the truck to my exhaust shop and see about getting a muffler installed. Since I'm running my tag on the back of my driver side headrest, maybe I'll get a set of tips sticking through the factory plate location...
I started removing the paint last from my rims to start polishing them down last night. I will post some pictures on my thread later today or tomorrow. I finally ordered some drop spindles and 4" angled lowering block and hopefully by next weekend i will have the rims finished polished and the truck lowered. In a few weeks i will put some tires on the rims and throw them on. The truck will be driveable by then too.
I got the timing and carb tune closer to where it needs to be. Only had a few minutes to tinker with it but I made the best of it. Truck runs WAAAAAY better and is almost up to par with how it used to run but this larger cam and header will make it better in the end. Also apparently let the magic smoke out of a circuit in my dash so the idiot lights, temp gauge and fuel lever gauge stopped working. I couldn't care less about the temp as I just got my gauges in the mail from summit but the fuel level is annoying to not know.
went to the salvage yard and found the brackets that i needed to run A/C with a Air Pump. Also found the ignition key light up ring. set up it up so that when you open ether door it lights up.
came from a 4runner, thing is simple to swap over, since the key rings are all a standard size, i would guess a camry would work as well. just get the ring and the rubber ring that go with the light and your set.
I swapped my ignition switch lock cylinder from my parts truck to my driving truck. I also yanked the ignition switch and wire harness out of the parts truck. Now if I want to 'borrow' a truck of my era, I can just pull a plug from under the dash, plug my ignition switch in, turn it over, and drive off...
Toy_spd How does the wiring of this key light work? Looks real good on the interior work. You gonna lay any dynomatt while its all cleaned up?
