ok so i went and got the temperture sending unit from cut rate then i looked up were to instal it and it looks nothing like the one i bought, can somebody help yea and i added some pics because i finnaly got a comp and im not on my phone anymore so i can upload them now
heres some more pics of my truck.. so the question is when i looked it up u guys said that i need to replace the sensor with the green connector , the sensor i got looks nothing like that sensor , so did i get the wrong one or what
Have you removed the connector to see if the tip of the new one and tip of old one are diff shape?? I know Ive gotten quite a few wrong parts before so that maybe a possibility.
The sensor in your hand goes into the top of the lower intake. There are 3 temp sensors on a 3rd gen truck. One is for the cold start injector (I believe it's the one in your hand) then there are the two in the front of the intake. One is for the gauge and the other is for the computer. I believe the green one is for the computer. Your truck will not run with it unplugged. Found that out the hard way.
well i was tryin ta get the one for the gauge and the research i did says that, that is the green one i could be wrong but thats how i understood it, and yea i took the connector off there totally different
3 freakin temp sensors??? OVERKILL! Id say you got the correct one but not for the one your wanting to replace. depending on price Id just buy and replace the other 2. If they are hella spendy then return and get right one. Pull the old one out and take with you to parts store.
Not really it's just the way they are designed. The one for the cold start injector is really just a thermal switch. When the temp drops below 50 or so degree's it kicks the 5th injector on to richen the mixture on startup. The computer sensor works with the O2 sensor to keep the air/fuel mixture steady while driving and the 3rd temp sensor is just for the gauge. Pretty much every manufacturer has at least 2 temp senders/switches.
yea i would rather not replace all three if its not needed i just need to know what one goes to the gauge, how do u guys like the truck?
^^^ me too ^^^ not tryin to jack your thread, but how big is that sub box you got in there? i also have a 94 standard and ive been tryin to figure out how to get my 12's in there
