Shaggy dog FTW! Nothing beats sashimi on the boat while fishing! That's as fresh as it's gonna get right there! Pick some wild lemons and peppers in the backyard and throw it in the cooler for the first fish caught... Man, I miss home...
I'm on the same page with you Par! I already asked my Pare back home to see if he could borrow the boat when I come back in July! lol Shoots Hope all is well check you when I get back!
No doubt I'm right there with ya. I like my food that used to have a heartbeat to be cooked thanks. I have no need to be adventurous with food either. I'd be perfectly happy to eat a double meat tuna salad from subway 3 meals a day. I eat because I have to not because it is so tasty. Same way with alcohol. I drink to catch a buzz why get waste cash on some nasty assed micro piss when a case of coors light or bud light is under $20?
Sushi can be cooked, depending what you order. If your talking about craft/micro brews being "piss"......what do you call coors and bud light? nectar of the gods? Eating may be a necessity, and drinking to get ****ed up may be the all around goal for what you do but there are far far better ways to get there that contain actual enjoyment.
I always start out with eda mame or steamed gyoza. I like the Hawaiian Roll at Sakura and always enjoy the shrimp tempura basic roll. I'm going to have to branch out a little more as I used to. I don't mind the taste of raw fish but the texture gets me, especially if it's a fishy tasting fish.
Nope I call cheap beer an easily affordable path to the exact same result. No one has a sip of an alcoholic beverage of any kind and stops there. They keep on imbibing till they catch a buzz. I don't see any point in spending more money on "good beers" or "fine whiskey" only so you can turn your nose up at those that do the same thing for less money. Whats funny about this subject is I don't even drink anymore. I was working my way up to the pro's when I decided the hangovers sucked more than the previous nights fun was enjoyable. I still go to bars and have a blast with my friends but I'm the one that wakes up in the morning and gets stuff done.
I used to be friends with a chic who's ex had a sushi bar in town. It was hella good food but again HICKVILLE if there isnt steak and taters on the plate it dont get bought, damn rednecks experiment every now and then and Im not talkin bout banging your sis or cousin.
There was a place here for a while called Tex Wasabis. It was good before the owner got on tv, then it got overpriced. They had BBQ and burgers and steak and stuff, but they had a sushi bar. Made all the standard stuff, but had some of their own that where pretty good, kinda American style sushi if you will. Don't remember many other than a cowboy roll that had steak and hot sauce, its been a few years since I have been.
LOL! I make soul food sushi. Its fried catfish or perch and dirty rice made into a roll and cut into pieces. I serve it with hot sauce, soy sauce, and wasabi on the side. My friends damn near bite their fingers off when they eat it! LOL!
actually the steamed gyoze and eda mame is my first two choices as well. Had some massive steamed dumplins from Panda in laurel today for lunch. I like caroliina roll, alaskan snow crab roll. Sometimes i will a spider roll, but it has a very distinct strong taste to me. The only raw rolls i will eat is spicy tuna or salmon roll.
Also, i made my own wasabi, i thought the instructions on the can were quite odd. Says to mix 5 teaspoons of wasabi powder with 3 teaspoons water. mix, then turn bowl upside down on counter. Believe it or not it worked and stuck to the bottom of the bowl, it said to do this for maximum effect, not sure why, but OMG when i started mixing it, the fume/aroma slapped me in the face extremely hard, i almost fell backwards.. i thought cutting up some onions were bad, no... wasabi will get you for sure!
I'll disagree there. I'm a home-brewer myself and can drink a 12 oz. beer and go about my day without another sip of alcohol. I drink good beers (most of the time) solely for the purpose of drinking good beer and enjoying the taste and know numerous people that do the exact same. Theres an honest different in people that drink to get ****ed up, and people who just enjoy beer and what it is as a process. Same with wine, same with whiskey. I drink probably 4 out of 7 days a week, but it's a single beer that I enjoy. Not all "drinkers" are alcoholics LOL. I haven't been drunk in months.
I live in wine country, there something like 150 wineries, a couple distilleries and about 50 micro breweries all within a 50 mile radius. I'm used to getting chastised when I turn up my nose at them rather than the other way around in these parts. I have tried most of the local stuff and its all swill in my opinion. They say its an acquired taste... I'd have to guess gay sex is also but I don't want to acquire a taste for that either.
