Ok Guys I have been talking to White Trash and some others about getting More Power for my Little Old School Yota, and I have come to the conclusion to get the best Bang for my Buck, (Living on retirement pay) I would be better off replacing my Power plant with a Small V6 The reason we chose a Chevy 4.3L and 700R4 Automatic is We had them in the Shop for one. and it produces more HP that my 22R/20R and it eliminates the Manual Trans so No Clutch Res relocation, I still have to Relocate the Brake Booster, Oh Wait I have the Huge Brake Booster so I need to get a smaller one.... My Questions are; 1. Is there anything I need that you know of to remember to get from a Donner rig to make the Throttle Bodied 4.3L Run properly 2. What Brake Booster that is smaller than the one I have do you recommend? Watch for Pics Coming soon of the Frame Under Mod and the 4.3 L swap.
Say goodby to most of the trans tunnel and firewall. All that will be cut out and rebuilt to fit around the bellhousing. A smaller booster is one from an early 80's supra. It's a dual diaphragm with about a 9" OD rather than the large single like most trucks.
Hey Thanks for the O pinion Trashey. but you reall think so? We measured the motor and it was actually smaller than my toy, and with the 4 inch Body Drop and 2 inch Z we still have to cut the crap out of the Trans tunnel anyway and screw the heater box all up. and Early 80's supra.... Thanks just a piece of info I needed. Maybe when I'm done I'll make the trip over to your side and we can dragg them...
The size of the engine is fine, I'm talking about the size of the bellhousing and tans. THAT'S where the size and clearance issue comes into play. Not saying it's a bad idea at all but it'll be work especially with a body drop etc etc. If you can lay frame figure the trans height will have to start about 1/4" or so above the bottom of the frame rails and go from there. Buhbye heater.
Yeah the heater was mostly toast with the 4 inch Body Drop.. Still looking at How to accomplish that. Might have to build a new one.
Well u have the engine n tranny atleast thats how i understood ur post. Ur guna need the ecu and engine harness. I id also upgrade the brakes for the added weight of the larger motor/trans. If u want more power there should be a supercharger kit for that motor. Its for the S10 and not the fullsize even though its the same dam motor but since u aint smogging it then it shouldnt matter
Yes sir already have the motor and trans just need the throttle body and any computer stuff it needs to run. Hummm Super Charger? ooooo
Wat do u mean "run the TB"? U mean run the intake piping? Find some pipe at ur Local parts store and just buy a good filter and those rubber hose couplers And for the love of jebus plz post pix of the build
Supercharger.. dont be stoopid. Typhoons/Psyclones came with 4.3's turbocharged. No reason why you couldnt pick up the top end of one someday.
??? Ok you confused the heck out of me now.. I have no clue what you just said. Oh and I will/do it just don't take long to get burried.
Thats Crazy Huh! I don't have that kind of Money for a super Charger, nor do I have 1200 to 2000 for a Lexus V8, and the Dollar value of doing the 4.3 vs Building the 22R/20R it just made sence... But you say there was some 4.3's out there with turbos? Hummm Twin Turbos ooooooo
