pretty hard. the front struts have the spindles attached and to "properly" lower it you have to take the front suspension apart and cut 40mm out of the tubing then weld it back on, and cut the spring perch off, then weld on a coilover sleeve. All in all, it costs about 1k to do the front suspension. Rear is just a solid axle though with a spring so its super easy.

Lowlife, is that a red Isuzu impulse in the parking lot background of your truck? The one with the OG trimag rims.

Thats exactly how you do it on a 84-89 300zx, the suspension actually looks identical between the 2

Oh thanks. I'm happy to learn about that car. I kinda looked at the rear and was hoping the front might be just as easy but no. Thanks though.

The one with the 3 spoke rims? Nah I think that was an Integra

Thanks man. I kinda want slot mags in 15x8.5 to stretch some 185's on, but I also am looking for some mesh wheels. SSR mesh or Southern Ways mesh came in 5 lug so I'm keeping an eye out for those too. Its just that JDM wheels in good sizes are going to be more than what my budget is so I figured I could just find some wide 15" old school muscle car/truck wheels and see how it looks..

Ha no problem man. They are awesome cars, its just a lot of work to do the front suspension unfortunately :(

Oh really? I had no idea. I knew a few other toyotas had front spindles like that but I wasn't sure about Nissan or other brands. I guess it was common for drift/race cars to do that mod back in the day when these things ruled N2 racing and TS cups. I would kill to see that! hah

I know what you mean man. I've been looking for some ssr Hasemi's or some work equips but I never find good offsets for the truck unless they're like 3 grand. Guess I'll be sticking with my Advans for a while.

Thanks Predracer! And yeah I hear ya, good sized wheels are expensive. Thats why I'm sticking to old school muscle car wheels haha. You can find 8" wide wheels for 100 bucks all day!

    UPDATE:

jdm Nardi steering wheel. Got this off a guy who imported tons of parts and wheels from japan before the US economy became so ****ty lol. This may have come off of some badass drift car or something, who knows!?

widewheels ftw, anything from 16-18" in diameter for me, but on Corolla's... you need small wheels.

ha yeah man, the corolla's got 13's on it and they look amazing to me. 14" is ideal size for those things though if you're going for a truly classic style. For the truck I still don't want to go over 15's though. I know I'll have to run a slightly bigger sidewall tire to fill in the fender gap (or lower it more haha) but I think It'll look good. We'll see I guess!

Some of you may have noticed my posts in the help section about my idle surge/rough idle/running rough in general.

The weather here today was finally nice so I decided to clean the throttle body, MAF sensor, and check for vacuum leaks. This is my first vehicle (besides my corolla) that I've actually started learning to work on things myself so hopefully I'll get the hang of it before long and not have to be so dependent on people to do work for me! haha. I'll keep you guys updated as I get more stuff done though. :)

    thanks man!

I should probably post this in help section but I'm new to leaf spring vehicles and I'm wondering, how do you stiffen up the rear end while keeping it low? I want to put wheels that almost poke past the fender, but don't want hardly any suspension travel since it will mean hitting the fender. The solution obviously is stiff as hell rear suspension, I'm wondering how you do it!? haha.

Stiffer drop shocks, and drop leafs? will that be much stiffer than stock?

    UPDATE!!!!

Got a lot done this past weekend. Found an awesome deal on some vintage Western Hurricane II's. They are 15x8.5 -32 offset with 185/65 tires mounted on them. Truck rides great and doesn't rub anywhere! This is a quick edit I made with my buddy.

i would say if you can maybe even go to a 185/55 series that would nicely amplify the wheels...... as for drop..... get it to tuck around 1/4 inch into the tire and that will be perfect! the raked stance is looking good too :waytogo:
